It's not mumbo jumbo, and you are doing this all wrong because you think it is!
Stop what you are doing and read the directions before you seriously mess up your Mac. If you don't want to read the directions don't install Boot Camp.
Do you have a backup of your Mac or are you just hoping that nothing else goes wrong?

Oct 15, 2014 3:20 PM in response to Csound1by jcosta14,a. i have a backup of course
b. im calling it mumbo jumbo because im trying to install this since 5 hours ago and i was hoping someone could explain why my mac is acting this way without having to lose half an hour writing every step i took
c. what i did exactly was partition my disk through the bca and resume normally as one would. wait for the reboot and install windows. when it reboots a black screen appears that says "no bootable image found" as i described in the op. with the option button i loaded through efi. the next thing i tried was to delete the partition create another one in exfat format and try that way. it moved a little more but nothing stilll. again in bca i deleted the partition and tried again, this time with only the last box checked. same error. when i get to the part where i have to choose the partition to install windows it gives me the "cant install windows on disk 0 partition 4"

Oct 16, 2014 5:56 AM in response to jcosta14by Loner T,Your 2010 MBP does not support EFI. You need to let BA do the partitioning and install it. Your MBP also does not support Windows ISO.
From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions
Can I use a downloaded (ISO) version of Windows with Boot Camp?
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 and later), MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 and later, including Retina models), Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later), and iMac (Late 2012) can install downloaded (ISO) versions of Windows 7 and 8.
Please see Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
Please see Enable Bootcamp to install from usb for OSX 10.9**WORKS** for a possible workaround for your DVD issue.

Oct 16, 2014 6:10 AM in response to Loner Tby jcosta14,My MBP is 15 inch mid 2010 running BCA 5.1. Ive seen that list before thats why i assumds it would work. I tried changing the plist.info file to allow my mac but no dice it gets stuck on the partition selection menu. I press to format it does so but does not let me continue. If i try deleting and creating a new one but i get an error message saying windows cant create partition.
Loner T: Basically i have to buy a DVD drive or fix mine to install it if i understood correctly
Thanks for the help

Oct 16, 2014 8:20 AM in response to jcosta14by Loner T,You would not need to create a partition through the Windows Installer, BA should do that. After you format to NTFS and click Next, what happens?
-
Oct 16, 2014 11:08 AM in response to Loner Tby jcosta14,I cant click next it gives me the same message that it gave before. Im off to buy a Samsung external DVD drive theres no reason for it not to work this way..

Oct 16, 2014 11:24 AM in response to jcosta14by Loner T,I suggest using a USB2 flash drive, before you invest in an external drive. For machines with built-in internal drives, BC has issues using an external HDD due to driver issues.
The only "proper" solution is to buy an "internal" Optical drive to make it work in a supported manner.
