Oct 25, 2015 7:29 PM in response to ShafNZby CMB ,This helped a ton! I had tried just holding them down, but not for 15 seconds. The slow 15 second count brought my new 6S Plus right back to life. I am very grateful for this post and this forum!

Oct 28, 2015 8:40 AM in response to Naj16by leahfrommoraga,As CoffeeFan2 suggested I held the right hand side button down and the main menu center front button down together for 10 seconds. Then I released them both. A few seconds later the Apple logo came on and everything is back to normal now.
Thanks CoffeeFan2!

Nov 1, 2015 6:28 AM in response to Naj16by Carolien14,Hi - This happened to me as well. I have a 1 week old iPhone 6 phone & I've had issues with both wifi & unexpected shutdowns. Other suggestions to hold the front main button & the right side button for 10-15 seconds & then let go worked. I got the white screen with black apple logo & the phone restarted. The issue seemed to start however with my wifi not wanting to switch on which (upon a full reset) continued to be the case. Still need to make my way to the apple store I guess. Very frustrating.
Thanks all for your suggestions to get the phone to start. It's just that .. a start to be back online again with my brand new iphone.

Nov 3, 2015 11:47 PM in response to ShafNZby Mike from Annecy,Same here the holding 2 buttons down for 15 secs did the trick. Helpful to know some of these new built in features. I spent the journey to work thinking the phone had died on me....

Dec 1, 2015 10:29 AM in response to Naj16by dsteb1010,Same thing happened to my phone within 4 days of having it. From all of these posts, it doesn't appear there is a real long-term solution which is extremely disappointing. Switched from a Samsung Galaxy 5 and tried the iphone for the first time. After reading this chain of posts of people having the same unexplained issue is pathetic.

Dec 1, 2015 10:41 AM in response to dsteb1010by Mike from Annecy,Dont be disheartened . I had the same problem and then discovered that it was a feature ( if same thing happens where seemingly died )when in fact had gone into a battery saving deep sleep mode. Thats the good news, read above for a possible solution. . Let me assure you anybody who has decided to leave samsung :android behind is a wise person . I've been using apple product since 1988 and i remain a fan.

Jan 3, 2016 7:05 PM in response to Naj16by NY0002,I ad the same problem today and was in a panIc. But read ShafNZ's very useful post and my phone started up. It would have been useful if Apple had warned about this when they were setting up the phone. It might reduce the number of people running back to Apple stores!
Cheers,
NY

Jan 14, 2016 7:04 AM in response to CoffeeFan2by Elgee71,Hi,
My iphone 6+ just did exactly the same thing 15 minutes ago....I followed CoffeeFan2's (THANK YOU!) advice and held down both buttons and it's now back up and running.
Incidentally I synced with iTunes for the first time this morning.......
Surely this should have been picked up in product quality testing?

I had the black screen problem and tried a few searches online but ShafNZ's answer of hold home button and on button down together for 10-15 seconds really helped me.
Thank you!!

Mar 20, 2016 11:22 PM in response to Naj16by click_doomsday,if I tell you right now I am extremely upset it is because I am I have not had this new iphone 6 s plus for 3 days all the sudden the phone started restarting for no reason then it shuts completely off. I had my old iphone 4 for over 5 years and it never gave me any kind of issue like this. I tried all the little tricks online and nothing will work. I'm hating right now that I even upgraded.,... does anyone have any more suggestions or have I already done them all? I really don't want to have to get up and go to the apple store on my off day

Mar 25, 2016 2:37 PM in response to CoffeeFan2by TheCreativeLady,I always wait weeks before accepting the updates but I finally updated 2 days ago. And today my phone just went black and wouldn't come on. It wouldn't charge or show any sign of life. I pressed buttons and was about to run off to the phone store. Luckily, I checked Apple discussions and found your suggestion. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the Apple logo after holding down the wake and home buttons for 15 seconds! Apparently I had not been holding them down long enough. Thanks CoffeeFan2 for your time saving tip! I did NOT want to go the the phone store nor the Genius Bar!
