Q: don't know my security code to reset iphone 5

I bought a new iPhone 6.  When I was at Verizon, we couldn't restore my iPhone 5 to delete it all because there is some security code on the phone preventing that.  I have no ideas what that is.  Is there any way to override that??

No, or it wouldn't be a security code. However, we might be able to help if you only explained clearly and with detail just what the problem is.

We bought my daughter a new iphone 6.  It was sent to her at school.  She went to verizon store and they setup the new iphone 6 for her.  She asked them to help her delete all of her info off of her old iphone 5 (like a factory reset) because she has to do that before sending it back to verizon for the credit.  The verizon tech tried to reset or delete the phone and he said it was asking for a security code.  That a code was setup to prevent her from accidentally deleting her information.  She has no idea what that code is or how it got on there.  He said we would need to contact apple to get help- but because her phone is 2 years old, they won't talk to me....

Without knowing what this code is I haven't a clue how to help you. If it's a simple lock screen passcode just restoring the device will remove it. But if it is a Restrictions passcode, there is no way to remove it except by restoring it as New and not restoring a backup made when the restrictions code was in place. If it's the Find my Phone lock then you need the Apple ID and password used on the device. See Find My iPhone Activation Lock.

It is a restrictions passcode.  And she wants to restore it as new- but it is not letting her because she doesn't know the code.  She said it is a number code- when she tries to reset the phone the keypad comes up and asks for the code.  She doesn't know it, she has tried every code she has ever used, and none of them are working.  She would never have put this on her phone, she has no idea how this code got on there or what it is.

    Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help

                iPad,iPod,iPod Touch Recovery Mode

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.

I none of the above works, then see:

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the

other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some

charge, and then start with step 2 again.

      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

    Additional Information:

If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.

Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

Kappy, you're wrong. Please don't respond unless you know what you're talking about. I'm having the same problem and you're inability to do the correct research to answer has hindered me coming to a conclusion. Please do not respond unless you are accurate.

Kappy's response in regard to a phone locked with a Restrictions passcode is not wrong. Also, it is over a year old. What is your issue, specifically? Instead of critiquing a response that was made to someone else, why not tell us what your issue is so we can tell you what you need to do....

    Cheers,
