Nov 1, 2014 6:40 PM in response to dgbararby neunon,I haven't been able to get a connection to my 802.11ac network since upgrading to Mac OS X Yosemite. If I run Mac OS X Mavericks or Linux I have *no problems whatsoever*, but I cannot get Yosemite to associate to the network:

Nov 1, 2014 8:57 PM in response to GalagBashaby mangoshak9,My machine has been fixed after I did the instructions in the link below. This is a mid 2009 MacBook Pro that has been updated for each OS, so it's never had a clean install since I first got it. I knew a clean install would be best and after the wifi trouble I gave in and did it, assuming it would be a total PITA. The link here was very easy to follow and I was able to do a nice clean install and recover apps and data from Time Machine as the last part of the installation. Didn't even need to do all that USB boot drive stuff either. Almost happy this happened now and will do this for all future updates.

Nov 1, 2014 9:27 PM in response to mangoshak9by dgbarar,It would be nice if those hawking their wares did not attempt to prey on those of us saddled with this problem by attempting to sell us useless software that will not solve this problem.

Nov 2, 2014 1:13 AM in response to mangoshak9by rockinhc,Everything is fine only if I VPN into my work network. Disconnect from VPN and the wifi becomes a worthless brick again. I believe wifi at my work seems to be working fine too although I'm not onsite at work to verify it for long periods of time.

Nov 2, 2014 2:02 AM in response to GalagBashaby ayrtonf1,Hi,
iMac27" mid2011
1st) my wifi router runs perfectly for the rest of devices (imac2008 with mavericks, iphone4, iphone 5s, ipad...).
so i don't know why to change anything in the router
2nd) I tried resetting SMC, and everything posted here (keychain....)
3rd) I did a clean install : wasting time
And the worst is that Apple don't say a single word like : "sorry for the inconvenience, we are working on update. Expected release xx days" or something like that.

Nov 2, 2014 2:23 AM in response to ayrtonf1by ecotecit,It doesn't matter so much that a company has made a mistake, released a bug etc.
It's more important on how the company deals with that mistake.
In the case of Apple, their customer relations over this problem leads a lot to be desired.

Nov 2, 2014 10:14 AM in response to ayrtonf1by knapist,Hi,
I had the issue for a few days on a mba 2012. I tried all the fixes I could find and noticed that switching my laptop to a different router made the issue disappear. I then checked the settings on both routers and spotted a difference in the security settings. Setting AES instead of TKIP for encryption method seems to have solved the issue using the original router (the one that kept on causing drop outs). My settings are WPA2-PSK with AES.
I hope this helps.
cheers

Nov 2, 2014 11:28 AM in response to knapistby rockinhc,You are on to something! Although I have the issue with WPA2-PSK with AES but I have no issue when i enabled a guest network without security.

Nov 3, 2014 12:53 AM in response to knapistby knapist,A few more tests revealed that if I don't force either WPA nor WPA2 (so leaving it in "auto WPA/WPA2 Personal" in my router - not sure if all routers support this) and with AES make a very stable connection. When I forced a WPA2+AES the connection was unstable...

Nov 3, 2014 8:27 AM in response to Paul W Jonesby Paul W Jones,OK, by way of further update, with so many users having problems with 802.1x EAP-TLS type connections, I did a new install of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, from USB to a back-up hard disk, and that works fine. So it would appear not to be the box (MacBook Pro Retina mid-2012), but something to do with the fact the install went on top of OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks), or some other aspect of the box. Since the problem is pretty common in our corporate environment, I'd say it is likely the migration path to Yosemite.
I think this is one Apple will have to likely fix.

Nov 3, 2014 10:43 AM in response to JamieAscotby Walmo,I I've had the same problems, and just today it got even weirder. Now I have an "X" in the WiFi icon at the top ribbon. This morning, thinking I had nothing to lose, I basically went directly to step #4 and even though the "X" remains, I have a WiFi connection that's been working fine. There are a lot of things I don't like about Yosemite (design is a big one - middle school-level graphics), but the WiFi connection problem is the most unconscionable of all. I have similar issues with iOS 8 and wish I could just go back to the previous system - I'm experiencing touchscreen delays and a lot of unintended window jumping that causes extra time to do most tasks. What's happening at Apple???
