ATV 3 Version 7.0 Home Sharing not woking with Yosemite and iTunes 12

Home Sharing from my Apple TV 3 (A1469) with software 7.0 is not working from the library on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) with OS X Yosemite 10.10, Airplay still works but its annoying to have to choose a Song/Movie/TV show from my MBP and then Airplay it to the ATV. Much preferred how well Home Sharing worked.

- I have both devices signed in to the same Apple ID.

- Have tired turning Home Sharing off and on

- Have restored the Apple TV

Using all devices on the same 5G wifi network (Huawei HG659b)

Most annoying thing is it was working perfectly before iTunes 12 was released.

Has anyone else discovered this problem? Does Apple or anyone have a fix?

Please HELP!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Yosemite 10.10

Also having this same issue. Have been since GM ver 1 of OS X yosemtie and iTunes 12. Tried downgrading back to iTunes 11 that was a bust.

Currently it can see the computers but when i try to view library i get an error message saying "Could not connect to "users Library", BUT IT CAN SEE IT.

So frustrating.

Airplay is still working fine from all devices

I have some possibly related problems... maybe something worse. I'll just list the symptoms:

1. On my iPhone 5 remote app I see my Macbook library 4 times, all of my Apple TVs (1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen), but my iMac does not show.

2. On my iPad Air remote app, only my 1st gen Apple TV which does not use Home Sharing shows.

3. On my 3rd gen AppleTV, I can see my Macbook 3 times, no iMac.

4. On my 2nd gen AppleTV, I can see my Macbook 4 times, no iMac.

5. On my 1st gen AppleTV I can see the content on my iMac (the library with which it is synced).

6. On my iMac, I can see and Airplay to all of my Apple TVs and my Airport Express.

7. On my Macbook, I can see and Airplay to all of my AppleTVs.

So the biggest two issues are with the remote app seeing my libraries properly, and with the 2nd and 3rd gen AppleTVs seeing my libraries properly. The iMac doesn't show up at all. FYI, I have a mid 2011 iMac, and a late 2012 Macbook Air. I have signed completely out of HomeSharing on all of the aforementioned devices, deleted the remote app on the iOS devices, rebooted, re-setup, and reached the exact same results. My iPhone 5 and AppleTVs all see 3 copies of my Macbook library, and none of them see my iMac. My iPad sees nothing except my 1st gen AppleTV which is is directly linked to, not through Home Sharing.

All of this worked properly yesterday when Mavericks was on both of my Macs.

Yes I have been experiencing the same problem.

Home sharing not working with ATV 3, Macbook Pro Retina Mid-2012. ATV's software is the latest and MBP is running Yosemite.

Activated Home-sharing via Preferences in iTunes and ATV can't find it.

Tried meanspa's solution and it worked.

To fix this, on your Mac's iTunes turn on Home-sharing via File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.

After doing this, my computer's iTunes library popped up in ATV.

Sure is a bug but at least we can still use Home Sharing in the time being.

I had exactly the same problem with home sharing vs Apple TV and It seems that I maybe found something by "error" about this today.

I done some cleaning into the music folder of my macbook and deleted some files of itunes (since I use an external disk for my itunes multimedia files I considered theses as "unwanted" files and I deleted them.) After done this I found that something reset on my Itunes program and after this my home sharing begin to work perfectly with my apple tv 3rd gen.

Seems something into the upgrade to itunes 12 leaved some trace that prevent the home sharing to work correctly with my library. I dont know what fixed it exactly on my side but I hope that can give an hint to someone to find what created this very annoying bug.

Is the sharing in preferences really the same as the home sharing from the file menu? Thought they were different.

Anyway, in my case, Homesharing was activated through the file menu - but atv only shows an error message, that the connection failed.

Tried deleting the itunes library and build up a new one. Still the same. After activating home sharing no connection from atv.

The remote app on my ipad works fine in connection bot the imac and atv. no doublettes or so.
