Q: can’t make phone call on my mac from yosemite from contacts

Anyone else not able to make a call from contacts on a mac pro running Yosemite. My iPhone 6 and Yosemite are both setup to make cellular calls and on the same wifi network and both signed in, basically everything that is on apples support site but all calls fail. It tried but fails every time and I’m not sure what else to do. There is no more info on how to make calls and everything tried just fails. I haven’t tried to call from safari or any other source.

the icon means facetime call, not cell phone call.

You can see the cell call, when your mouse point put on phone number's right place.

They are hiding before mouse point come.

Cell phone call icons are hiding, before you mouse point come closely.

Try moving your mouse point to the right place of phone number...

After lots of testing, I think MY problem is that my phone number isn't verified in Facetime/iMessage. And that's because my carrier can't send SMS to Vodafone UK (the number the iPhone sends the hidden verification message to).

Is anyone able to MAKE calls WITHOUT having their number verified? Thanks..

pretty sure i'm verified because i'm using my iMessage with no problem and it gets also synchronised easily and quickly with message application of my mac,,, but still i receive calls but not capable of making calls or sending or receiving msgs from my GSM carrier on my mac

These advanced features will require the general release (and installation on your iDevice) of IOS 8.1, available Monday.

Not true. All of these features should and do work with iOS 8.0.2.

I was having a similar problem.  Incoming calls worked but not outbound.   I went into Settings on my iPhone.  Found FaceTime ... Even though the Setting for iPhone Cellular Calls was green ... I set it off and back on again.  Now my outbound calls are working fine.  I have a late 2013 MBP.

the funny thing is, even i get my facetiae's call log synchronised on my mac's FaceTime application, when i use my iPhone FaceTime to call my brother, the call duration and everything about it appears on my mac's FaceTime. they are completely interconnected either iMessage or FaceTime but still can't call !!!

So i fixed mines. Make sure your connected both FaceTime on iPhone and iMac, same number and everything... My problem was the iPhone Cellular Calls was off i turned it on and it started making call. Must be connected on the same Wifi or try the iPhone Hotspot.

After having this problem and reading through a number of threads I believe I have solved this problem.

The issue seems to be that the exact Apple ID (whether iCloud.com or not etc) must be used on both the iPhone/Ipad and also the Mac. It may sound simple but I would suggest you signout and re-enter. For clarity, do the following:

1). Go onto your Mac, Settings, iCloud and signout of apple id (perhaps retaining your contacts on the mac as it gives you that option)

2). Go onto your iPhone/iPad, Settings, iCloud and do the same

3). Re sign-in on both devices with exactly the same username and password.

Low and behold it works!! I did not try this for days as I was convinced that both were identical on my two devices but I was wrong.

    HOPE THIS HELPS!
