Q: Facetime Calls

Hi

There is a new function in Yosemite where you can do or pickup calls when your iphone is on the same wifi network then your iMac

I tried the beta (on a separate partition) and it worked like a charm, all the time.

Today, I installed yosemite over my main maverick partition. Install went well. However, the FaceTime phone functionality is not working correctly. Sometimes, it will work the first time after booting. But all the other times, it will fail. If I receive a phone call, my iMac will show that I am receiving a call. When I click on answer, it will fail and hangup the call (The french error message I have is: "Erreur de l'appel"). A message will also show on my iPhone. to say that the call is failed.

Any tips?

Thanks!

    Hello,

Something similar is happening to me, but lucky you that you receive notifications when your phone is ringing!

I do not have such luck, although I can start a call from my Mac.

iMessage is working fine -- don't know what/where the problem is.

    Best Regards,

    Mark.

Hey, I was able to fix it!!!

Very simple solution: I deactivated the Wi-Fi. I used only the Ethernet Cable.

I thought of this with all the posts about Yosemite having so many issues with Wi-Fi that i have decided to disable it. And magicaly, my FaceTime calls now works like a charm!

And just so you know, I have reactivated the Wi-Fi and the issue came back! So it's 100% confirmed that this was my issue!

I guess we will see an 10.10.01 soon!

    Have a good night!

Yes! Can confirm.. exact same issue.. It breaks when I enable WiFi as well...

Also; related to that, I cannot get the Mic input to work with ANYTHING but internal Mic on my mac. I have Plantronics USB headphone Mic and it will NOT use it during audio calls.. I have it selected in the Video menu for FT and in OS X 10.10's audio settings as well.. Sound works.. but for some reason it seems like the Microphone is HARD SET to only use the Mac's internal Mic..

Seems Apple has a few bugs that crept through the QA team...

Brilliant!, was scratching my head until I saw your post, (splinters hurt like ****). Sincerely hope you don't mind, but I posted your solution on Twitter, crediting you with the workaround, it  seemed to me to be important, as I am sure many more people are having the same problem. I apologise if you are offended.
