ditto. no action at all... ideas please?
extra data point. can launch it via terminal - /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Same here, only happened on one machine out of three. Old Macbook Pros were fine 2012 Mac Mini Server will not open (trashed prefs and rebuilt permissions).
thanks! just open it with terminal
what the heck is that crap
I have the same problem, iTunes will not open since updating to Yosemite & iTunes 12. Until Apple sort this out tiktok is quite right - open the Terminal app (if you don't know where it is search in spotlight) copy & paste the following into the Terminal window & hit return. Unfortunately you will have to do this everytime you want to open iTunes until it is sorted.
/Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
It's working.
I hope Apple fix this soon.
Thank you!
Thanks, tiktok!
same problem
appreciate the help
macbook pro (retina late 2012)
yes, same here. strange one, all thru testing it was working just fine. seems like the last build of itunes broke my 13" MBA 2013.
I have this issue as well after updating to Yosemite.
I tried to reinstall the OS, but it didn't help.
For now I can only open it from Terminal.
Thanks George!
the same with me. OX S Yosemite brought problems.
I do remember the ones it worked on I did the security update and iTunes separately, before the Yosemite update. On the mini, I installed everything as "Update All" then upgraded to OS X Yosemite Server after that, breaking iTunes that serves all of my media around the house.
yes, same here. it seems if the security update is done first, itunes will work after yosemite boots. But on my MBA, i did not do that. what a hose job...
I did the security update first, then Yosemite, and no luck with iTunes on my MBP. Won't launch. Multiple restarts later and it still won't launch. Haven't tried terminal, but that's a bunch of crap if you need to use the terminal to open basic apps like iTunes.
I did all updates first then updated to yosemite. Now have a more robust fix. I ran AppZapper to remove iTunes then reinstalled. Now works like it should. curiouser and curiouser.
