Time Machine not working with Yosemite

I recently upgraded (clean install) from OS X Mavericks to Yosemite. Before upgrading, I backed up my MacBook Pro via Time Machine on a network server (QNAP.) Yosemite is up and running now, however, I am unable to access folder history via Time Machine. Yosemite recognizes the historical backups, however, when I select a specific date in Time Machine, nothing happens.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I read in some blog that today Apple have released OS X 10.10.2 and iOS 8.1.3. No notifications in my iMac nor in my iPad / iPhone. Then I checked the update search option in all my devices and the updates appeared! Maybe Apple is sending automatic notifications little by little to avoid problems in their servers.

The time machine problem was a VERY SEVERE bug and I don't understand why Apple didn't solve this before, and why it is not in the changes list for this update.

Time Machine appears to be finally working for me as well. The update said it was for several things. One said something about being to fix Time Machines ability to connect to your wifi. Huh, I always thought that time machine, and your backup drive were only stored locally on your mac. Perhaps it will somehow save info in your time machine that you enter on your phone ... IDK.

For the first time since I've had Snow Leopard my backup drive, is yellow again. In my old version of Yosemite, before the update, and in Mavericks it was light green. The update might have changed my backup drive some, and made it more accessible wt TM. Still I do wish that apple had completely checked for kinks, before releasing Yosemite. It would have made a lot of our transmissions to Yosemite much smoother.

I must say I haven't got many issues with Yosemite. Only the Time Machine thing was annoying and (only) last week sometimes my scroll functionality of the touchpad wasn't working in specific programs even though it kept on working in others. Restarting my MBA always resolved the problem. Let's hope they fixed that as well.

Time Capsule is a external drive with Airport (WiFi) capabilities which also can be used as a Time Machine disk (maybe other NAS as well, I don't know), so I think they refer to that with the WiFi fix.

At least in my case, Time Machine had no problem doing the backups. The problems appeared when I tried to access those backups. I only was able to navigate from the root of the hard disk, and when I reached the desired date, I navigated through the folders. But all the copies were there. With my 2TB Time Capsule I can access more than one year of backups (including the ones saved with Yosemite 10.10 and 10.10.1 with the bug still active). Now after the bug correction I can navigate through any folder or element in the left side of the Time Machine window.

So even it seemed absurd, you were able to follow Apple recommendations and make a Time Machine backup before installing the update.

So I just got off the phone with Apple and they sorted the problem for me. I'm running an older iMac (late 2009) and Yosemite 10.10.1. Since upgrading to Yosemite, same problem as everyone here - time machine seems to be backing up but I can't get into it. I navigate via finder to my time capsule, then navigate to the sparsebundle but it won't open - says it's in use. I swear I tried this and it didn't work, but he told me to cycle power on the time capsule (10 seconds off time) and then bamo, sparsebundle mounts time machine backup in finder for me and I can navigate through the backups. Unfortunately, the critical file I was looking for hadn't been saved all day and my autorecovery for some reason isn't working in Word. So although I can at least get into the backups....I'm still hooped.

The regular time machine GUI works now too.

Yes I agree with what you say about the backups being carried out but if they are then not accessible they are of no use,

I have cloud backup in two places but wanted local backups and so went the route of Airport Time Capsule at some cost to ensure complete compatibility, I stayed with Lion on my late 2012 MBP because it did everything I wanted.I always apply updates but always avoid new versions because in my experience there are always problems which as a business user I cannot risk, I didnt go to mavericks but finally succumbed to Yosemite Knowing I had the time machine to get me out of trouble if needed.

Before installing Yosemite I stopped time machine to avoid backing up the new os until I was happy but when I tried to access my backups the disc was not even visible.

My point is had the installation of yosemite gone wrong I would have been stuffed when I should have been sitting pretty
