Q: Message font too small in Yosemite

In (iMessage) Messages, I can no longer make the font any more larger, or change the font style. Did Yosemite do away with this option, or am i missing something?

This worked well. However, I still have trouble when trying to see what I'm typing in Messages. Also, is there a way to change the background colour of the text I send? It's green on white which has absolutely no contrast.

This advice was given to me and it worked!!

Firstly go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Reduce Transparency  - and tick the box.

You could also increase contrast here too. You may need to reboot for settings to take effect.  I did not have to do this.

Now for increased Messages Text Size:

Messages > Preferences > Text Size > select Other > Fonts window will open > select Font Size (on right)

Try a reboot now. You will see a slider instead of the options you suggest. The slider will do you no good.

    Hi,

I used to set my previous versions to Arial Black and 14 point.

I would love to be able to change the Font.

Do you happen to have a AppleScript running ?

    Hi,

Your Video only shows Installing Fonts.

It shows nothing about you trying to use them in Messages.

In System Preferences > Accessibility choose Dispaly and tick the Reduced Transparency box like this pic.

    Accessibilty.png

In Messages it changes the Messages Menu > Preferences > General Section to look like this.

As mentioned earlier in this thread  the choice I made some time ago is remembered.

Thank You for this Orc4hire, I would have never been able to figure that out!!  Unreal....

The default is to just have the font size slider.  If you go into System Preferences, Accessibility, though, and turn on 'Reduce transparency' the preferences in Messages change to allow you to pick a particular font.  (Close Messages before making the change in System Preferences.)

Yes, the actual Preferences dialogue in Messages changes depending on what your transparency setting is.
