Nov 20, 2014 3:16 PM in response to MortenJamesCarlsenby universaltonton,I totally agree.
I've also been phoned by an AppleCare Senior Advisor in the US (I live in France) to send them system diagnostics when I reproduce some issues I reported. Apple is the only company that has ever contacted me (they already did it when I had a defective iMac G5) after I had reported major issues.
I am really upset about Yosemite, that's a fact. Wifi issues are only a part of my incredibly long frustration list. But it's comforting that a company like Apple stays in touch with its average customers.
One thing : when I'm really upset about something, I ALWAYS send an email to the CEO of the company to get attention, whatever the company. So far it seems that only Apple do care about these emails.

Nov 20, 2014 3:24 PM in response to universaltontonby alexia416,Just figured I'd toss this in. I booted from EFI, erased my HD, redownloaded and reinstalled OS Yosemite, created a new user account from scratch, then manually migrated my data from a time machine backup, one application at a time, (with its Library/App Support & Library/Prefs), followed by a restart, and check. Entire system now back to the way it was before - haven't dropped once in the last several hours.
So if you're up for it - this seems to fix... I will report back if Wifi fails (even one time) in the next 24 hours. Cheers and good luck all.

Nov 20, 2014 4:05 PM in response to tomstephens89by clipper01,I too was plagued with internet connectivity problems of frequent drop outs and tried many of the fixes suggested in this forum. None of the fixes were permanent and I could not come up with any real solution.
I am using a rMBpro Mid 2012, Netgear WNDR4500 v1 router and a Motorola SB6141 modem. The computer was upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite when the problems began.
It seems to me that since many, if not most Yosemite users have had no problems, that the fault may be related to the various external hardware devices users are connecting to the internet with. It could be that combinations of certain routers/modems are reacting unfavorably to the Yosemite software.
For a while I was convinced it was the IPv4 vs IPv6 problem and found these sites to check the connections: http://ipv6-test.com and http://test-ipv6.com. I am connected to internet via Oceanic TWC cable and found that TWC is not using IPv6 here in Hawaii.
Since installing the Yosemite 10.10.1 update and buying an SB6141 modem I have been getting my normal connection speeds and no drop outs so far after a couple of days use.
I am not sure if it was 10.10.1 or the new modem. I am just keeping my fingers crossed. As a bonus I no longer have to pay a rental fee to TWC for an old Webster DPC2100 cable modem.

Nov 20, 2014 4:49 PM in response to clipper01by hexdiy,Reply not to anyone in particular: Yosemite 10.10.2 Beta is out unexpectedly early. This points to the fact something at least is being taken seriously:

et al. Good luck!

Nov 20, 2014 8:05 PM in response to clipper01by KRobe15041,At least for me, it's not the hardware. One thing I discovered is that there is an open Optimum WiFi signal here, and when I connect with it, my internet is totally fine, absolutely NO problems. When I switch back to my router's secured signal (WPA2 Personal), it's gotten better with the update, but still isn't perfect-I still get DNS errors, despite trying most of the fixes on here. Come on, Apple & developers!

Nov 20, 2014 8:12 PM in response to tomstephens89by Rufus78,I have a canon MG7100 series printer. After struggling with this issue for 3 days, I changed so many settings that I wasn't sure I'd ever get my printer set up properly again. I finally used my ipad and downloaded the Canon PIXMA/MAXIFY Printing Solutions app.
After getting it to find my printer, and get the needed information, I added the needed info about my network. It instructed me when to connect my laptop to my printer, when to restart my printer, and when to disconnect the usb connection.
I then opened the Canon IJ Network Tool and followed the instructions.
I hope this helps...

Nov 21, 2014 12:28 AM in response to halcwbby WarwickRob,I'm also finding that outside interference is effecting my streaming too - in a way that never happened with Mavericks. The worst was from my hifi, which I moved and now I'm finding that when my central heating starts up (which has a wireless thermostat) my connections go crazy. It's only affecting audio streaming though, my Apple TV has been resolute throughout although it struggles to wake my iMac up now.

Nov 21, 2014 2:27 AM in response to tomstephens89by hfw999,Hi,
Just thought i'd let you know how I got mine working.
I have 2 wireless routers and a 4g wireless modem. One of the routers is a billion (and its quite old) and one net gear extender (quite new). I noticed that I could only get onto wifi using my wireless 4g modem. When I looked at that i noticed that it was using WPA2Personal. My home network was using WPA. So I swapped my home network to use WPA2Personal. That didn't work. What I did find though was when I connected to my wireless extender using WPA2Personal, I had no trouble with the wifi dropping out. I still cant connect to my older router using WPA2 without it dropping the connection every 10 seconds or so, but it works fine if I connect through the extender, which then connects to the older router.
Hope this helps someone.

Nov 21, 2014 3:38 AM in response to MortenJamesCarlsenby sergiuszs,Think about that for a minute before you jump to unreal conclusions !
I DO know what I am talking about. Just to clarify, I am not a fan, I am a software developer and I know that mistakes and bugs are everywhere and they have always been and will be, that is normal. A strange thing is that such company as Apple (that creates world-class integrated software and hardware) has got a problem with implementing Bluetooth protocol that has been known for ages.
And one other thing: I understand how difficult it is to solve a bug like this one but I have diagnostics reports created with WIFI diagnostic utility and so I can actually repeat this problem. I have talked to Apple Care engineer and told him that I have got diagnostics reports to help out but he told me to just do the factory reset of router... What the heck?
I suggest that Apple needs to focus intensely on quality...
Regards, Serg.

Nov 21, 2014 4:54 AM in response to WarwickRobby halcwb,As I keep saying (I started a thread) this could explain a lot of the solutions posted here. But people are completely reinstalling the os x, well if it is interference then the problem will re-occur. That's my gues.
In the meantime, either I use wifi when no other routers around, and then it works fine, or I plug in an ethernet cable. I am certainly not going to reinstall my os or switch to a windows PC.

Nov 21, 2014 4:55 AM in response to UsefulMacintoshby halcwb,Try replacing to a location with less interference. There are aps that can check this for you. But also wifi diagnostics can do this for you.

Could you try relocating your router to the location of you extender. If you have a good connection, probably interference is the culprit. I doubt whether it has got anything to do with authentication. That's just a software protocol.

Nov 21, 2014 7:24 AM in response to tomstephens89by MrVinney96,Yup. Here on 10.10.1 on the same Retina MacBook Pro. Drops out about every 10 minutes for about 30-40 seconds, then remains somewhat stable for another 10 minutes before doing the same over and over again.
