Dec 21, 2014 7:11 PM in response to hexdiyby jndupuis1,I'm of Ye Ole Cimmodore Amiga World from Days of Yore. When Mac was no different. Everyone had the same computer with limited user hardware config. One united OS fit all. PNP cards. Video cards. Who can forget Picaso? Adobe was focused on fonts. Amiga guys can't forget Worbench and ROM upgrade. I grew as computers did. Microsoft Windows was still DOS based then Ram a consumer. If Yosemite keeps up, Mac is going to have come full circle and may have to standardize their computers hardware with minimum user expansion to fully implement a one OS X for all. Also, kind of like the G4 days. Set aside handshake with IOS. Who wants to be bothered with a phone call on your desktop when you're busy? The 2014 Mac Mini is example of order it with the RAM you want now, because ain't no upgrading after, Buddy! Minimal average user network inputting but intuitive for the MIT Server and Networking GURU's. Just a flash from the past. Sometimes to go to the future, we need to look to the past. Some of that technology, of which, were ahead of it's time in the late 80's early 90's. This will be a real historic time for Apple. Windows 10 is approaching on the horizon with this same promise of one operating system across multiple platforms. I'm afraid Microsoft and Windows Users alike will be hitting similar speed bumps as there is too much varied system configurations for one Operating System alone to tackle across these multiple platforms. Thanks for letting me stroll down memory lane. When computers were just plain fun and as reliable like your toaster.

Dec 22, 2014 4:53 AM in response to hexdiyby jndupuis1,My appologies, hexdiy. On a more serious note. In Mavericks I applied the following settings and it seems to have made my Network more stable at Home. My Mini is tethered to the Ethernet and is the base for my Network at home. This may not work for roaming Mac Air or MBP's.
In my Router (Linksys EA3500), I entered a Host Name during configuration. In Mavericks I went into Networks and under Ethernet, clicked Advanced then DNS tab. Made note of the IP Address. I, then clicked Sharing and Edit and named the .local the same Hostname as my router. In Networks I went to Advanced under Ethernet clicked on WINS Tab and named it HOMEGROUP then clicked on + and added the DNS IP Address. I also added this IP Address under WIFI > Advanced > WINS Tab. I set the Service Order as Bluetooth DUN first, Ethernet second and WIFI third. I'm using the 5 GHz bandwidth to avoid the SNR discussed in the Intel White Paper. Restarted after applying settings.
So far, I'm pleased with the results in Mavericks solid and stable. I have a 1 TB Thunderbolt Ext HD that I'm ready to load with Yosemite and apply these settings to it. Mind everyone, that this is working out on my Mac Mini which is non-roaming. I can't say if this will work on a MBP going to work, Starbucks and back home again. My wife's iPhone is connected to the 5 GHz with no slow downs or interference.

Dec 22, 2014 5:22 AM in response to jndupuis1by OzziesMAC,My internet was also solid and stable under Mavericks, it was Yosemite that totally screwed that up.
Now the Mac Mini drops off the shared network after entering sleep mode and requires a reboot to get back to normal.

Dec 22, 2014 9:05 AM in response to tomstephens89by Ascenso,Hello,
Before I reported this:
I have a MBPR15 and Yosemite and can't connect to my Time Capsule 2TB (A1409) via wifi 2,4 or 5GHz.
All my other devices can conecto to my Time Capsule and my MBPR can connect to other wifi 2,4 networks...
I've tried all of your solutions and got no results...
Now my time capsule only works for 20 to 30 seconds after I change the chanels, and no one can connect (iphone, windows PCs, Android... none)...
I am connected via cable and time machine and file share are OK.
I tried all the tricks mentioned in this post and no luck, i can only connect after changing wifi channel an for a short period of time...
Is it possible yosemite craches my time capsule WiFi?
Thanks.

Dec 22, 2014 10:40 AM in response to Ascensoby erluk9,I switched back to mavericks... wanted to upgrade my drive to SSD in the process as well. 6 hours later (due to a weirdly faulty drive) Mavericks is back on the Mini and it has not dropped from wifi since the last reboot which was yesterday at around 6PM.
-
Dec 22, 2014 11:26 AM in response to erluk9by OzziesMAC,...and you won't, becuase you have found the best fix for the Yosemite WiFi and Ethernet issues and that is to go back to Mavericks.
Switch my laptop to mavericks again and has been stable for 3 days.

Dec 22, 2014 11:44 AM in response to tomstephens89by bahamut5000,Seems that this issue might be related to the Wifi Channel your network is on. I had issues where the wifi would drop after a short amount of time, and tried a number of things: PRAM reset, SMC reset, even reinstalling the OS. Then, switching my router over to another channel did the trick, and wifi has been stable for two days straight.

Dec 22, 2014 12:07 PM in response to bahamut5000by Davnkaz,So the latest with me and this Yosemite, wifi is better after completely resetting wifi connections, PRAM etc, turned off airdrop, but now the **** Apple TV cannot connect to my library, yet my airplay can work.
Over this whole nonsense now!
C'mon Apple please sort this out!!

Dec 22, 2014 6:35 PM in response to OzziesMACby jndupuis1,My fix is the same. My Mini is back like new running Mavericks and Boot Camp Windows 7 Pro. A courtesy progress report from Apple, either through an announcement to the Apple Stores or correspondence to registered Apple Users, would be nice. Right now, as it stands, when and where will we find out the green light to upgrade to Yosemite? I'm hoping for an official word. Until then....we wait. My fiddling around with settings and configurations is done. This is not necessary in order to "make" an Operating System tolerable to say the least. Apple Stores will be busy with customers wanting their original OS X back on their Macs. My advice to anyone who has not, do not upgrade to Yosemite just yet. It's not ready for the average citizen. So we keep waiting....

Wifi connectivity issues when using bluetooth
Since migrating to Yosemite I only have issues with Wifi when using bluetooth (Apple keyboard, trackpad, mouse), the issue is high latency (pinging my access point) reaching 500ms up to 10000ms as well as complete packet loss for several minutes.
When not using bluetooth (though it can be left turned on, as long as the trackpad etc is turned off) I do not have any issues.
Since the last update, bluetooth is usable again. While continually using the keyboard and trackpad, I notice regular moments with latency spikes (up to around 500ms), like 3 pings in a row and then back to 1-3ms. I also see a pattern where one ping has a high latency and the next one normal and the following one high and so on (considering high anything above 50ms). Generally the latency is below 30ms and often around 1-3ms.
MTR measurement of 6000 packets is showing: 0.7% loss, avg response time 28ms (still high for local distance).
For me there has been a clear improvement and it reached a workable level but definitely not fully resolved.

Dec 23, 2014 4:51 AM in response to marcelokalibby bodya,Apple, please, please fix issue for 5GHz channels 149 and above!
My AirPort Extreme ac has only upper channels set (I suppose cos of territory restrictions). Since I updated to Yosemite my 5GHz wifi is dead, I can't connect at all!!! Apple you must fix it!

Dec 23, 2014 10:43 AM in response to bodyaby pvoytenko,Same here, the problem with random dropping of wifi continues after upgrading to 10.10.1 Yosemite. I am getting very annoyed with it, and anxiously waiting for the solution that works. My patience is running low and i am close to simply switching my MBA to running microsoft...
So, Apple, hurry up... Otherwise, no more purchases of any i-Stuff...

Dec 23, 2014 1:31 PM in response to pvoytenkoby freggel_,Experiencing the Wifi dropping as well, apparently at random. I've turned off BT as some suggested, maybe that will help. A permanent fix would be nice though.
