Jan 8, 2015 1:00 PM in response to nucleon2000by hexdiy,Is there something in the WiFi settings locked by watching a streaming video?
Yes there is, Nucleon2000. It keeps your Mac locked onto the network at hand, instead of continuously looking around for other networks. In fact, streaming audio from say, Spotify, is a long published workaround for the YO1010 WiFi troubles. Seems to keep Bonjour discovery at bay.
So, in your case, you may be well served by disabling awld0 and Airdrop. Or running WifriedX ( which is basically the same).
Good luck!

Jan 8, 2015 1:09 PM in response to lkruppby hexdiy,What worries me in this thread is all the voodoo and configuration fiddling being advocated. What happens when the actual ‘fix’ comes out? Will these users even remember what they did beforehand? Probably not and we’ll be hearing from those users with new lamentations about how things are broken. Vicious circle.
No worries, mate. Nothing a nuke-n-pave won't fix. If you meddle on a grand scale, you have to be prepared to fix on a grand scale as well. So back up before you meddle, people!

Jan 8, 2015 1:18 PM in response to cbitterfieldby hexdiy,I see correlation to it stopping when I am doing large network uploads. (Moving large amounts of files to my TimeCapsule or FTP to a webserver)
Basically the same observation Nucleon2000 made, cbitterfield. Thanx for posting it.

Jan 8, 2015 1:35 PM in response to PFJ30by Sparkleberry,FWIW, I consider myself somewhat of an experienced user - more on the user side than within the OS. My MBP 17 has had ZERO Wifi connectivity issues regardless of OS. Am currently on Yosemite. And I always download the latest release.

Jan 8, 2015 4:24 PM in response to Sparkleberryby kbastian,If someone has no issues, why are they posting in this thread?
On a funny note - I tried turning off BlueTooth as some recommended forgetting that I had a bluetooth mouse and keyboard - oops, I was stuck, couldn't even turn it back on, had to dig out an old corded mouse just to turn it back on. I have done many of the things suggested in these 2000+ replies, and its no better. (other than doing terminal commands, as I don't want to end up with a 'terminal' computer! or make it to where when Apple DOES fix this, the fix won't work because I monkeyed with the OS. It is "better" but still drops at least twice when a NetFlix movie is playing during the streaming, causing a stall, and you have to turn WiFi off and on, and close and open browser before it will reconnect.
Hope Apple fixes this, its making work difficult. Sure wish Steve Jobs wasn't dead - he would never have allowed the bugs Apple has pushed out since Lion, iOS7 and now this. Total plummet in quality control without Jobs at the helm.

Jan 9, 2015 2:50 AM in response to tomstephens89by AntoniosCY,Wifi problems still insists. I have to turn off and turn on wifi in order to have internet. My wifi signal is full, however internet connection drops instantly after few seconds. Then, once again, turn off wifi and then turn on...

Jan 9, 2015 3:46 AM in response to AntoniosCYby a261943,I have had the same problems as everyone else and nothing suggested fixed the problem (including wiping and a clean install). I have just signed up for the Beta programme and installed 10.10.2 Beta 4 and I've been running now for 12 hours without a drop!

Jan 9, 2015 6:03 AM in response to lkruppby cbitterfield,Et Al;
I am a very experienced MAC User and IT Professional. I can reproduce this problem several times a day. I have tried all published solutions including a clean reinstall. (Where I completely wiped the drive first).
What I notice is that during large download/uploads which is what I use the machine for. I routinely move 4-6GBs up to an internet server. The is will occur faster. The only resolution I have that works is resetting the WiFi adapter.
My MBP has the same issue only less frequent. I doubt this is a driver issue but probably related to some iCloud sync or other background service. I have checked the channels and set them accordingly on two access points. I have looked at the Kernel for tuning high speed parameters. I have turned off sleep mode just to make sure. I have a FiOS 75/75 Internet connection with their highspeed router as primary and a GB connected time capsule bridged.
If someone at Apple wants to give me a an instrumented Kernel, I'll load it and provide the results. This time of issue is only resolved that way. It is a core OS issue not related to applications. I can reproduce the issue on 6 applications.
I am not whining or complaining, I just want a stable internet connection so I can walk away for the 2 hour uploads.
Real easy to reproduce:
Start FileZilla FTP
Upload 4-6 GB (Using 10 simultaneous connections)
Wait
Problem occurs in 10 mintes to an hour
Reset wifi before it times out
Upload continues
For the record I like Yosemite and I have been noticing issues since Maverick with odd slow downs. There seems to be a correlation with this issue and HI hdd access load but I can't be sure. I have a day job and don't have the apple resources to look that deep into Kernel issues.

Jan 9, 2015 7:35 AM in response to tomstephens89by SupportForumsUser,Turns out the issue I was having with sleep was caused by Boom 2 keeping coreaudiod active while it was running -- easily fixed by quitting the application. As I wrote earlier, the wireless issue seems to have been fixed with the delete-reboot-and-add-back wireless service method outlined above. I've also updated to the latest seed.

Jan 9, 2015 8:27 AM in response to tomstephens89by mudly1,I had the same problems over several weeks - the only thing that work for me (no problems for over a month now) - was to login to my wireless router and change the 'frequency' or channel setting from the default to another option. For me, it was changing from channel 7 (default) to channel 11. The setting (and name) will vary with the router I would imagine.
I had to reconnect from all my devices when I changed the channel on my router. No problems since. I have pc/imac/android/ipad connecting to my router.
For what it is worth...

Jan 9, 2015 9:12 AM in response to tomstephens89by Sébastien Shaikh,I have had the same problems since Yosemite launched.
Today I installed the 10.2 update and the wifi issues still persist.
How many updates has Apple released to fix the wifi issues on Yosemite?!
The computer I experienced the wifi issues: Macbook Air 13inch early 2014. 8GB RAM and i5 processor.

Jan 9, 2015 11:04 AM in response to tomstephens89by bratman91,It is clear from the huge number of posts in this thread that a solution that works for everyone has so far proved elusive and, secondly, the problem is not a minor irritation but one that can have a very detrimental effect, particularly on those who rely on their computer for work. Given this, are there any wifi dongles that will work with Yosemite and, if so, what has been the experience of them - do they provide a good stop-gap solution to the problem?

Jan 9, 2015 11:17 AM in response to bratman91by levifrompeschiera,I Confirm that the last beta realise works perfecly. Any wifi drop, speed is ok

Jan 9, 2015 12:03 PM in response to levifrompeschieraby kbastian,Going to try the beta since nothing else would work.
Needed to upload urgent file today for a work related issue, only 148MB and Wi-Fi died 6 times around 20-30% and had to start over. Last attempt finally allowed it to complete, SO frustrating! I almost missed a deadline to get artwork to a vendor for a product we need shipped on Monday.
Not an Apple Fanboy much of late.
