Jan 21, 2015 4:08 PM in response to hexdiyby ausappleuser,Yosemite on my machine today is almost unusable; I have to power cycle Wi-Fi about every second webpage. Either Apple *really* don't care or they're having a *lot* of trouble correcting the problem. Will it be fixed though? I have ceased to care and will be moving on.
So heyday Apple wrote Launchd but which Linux distributions use it? I can't evidence of Fedora using it?

Jan 21, 2015 4:10 PM in response to hexdiyby ausappleuser,Did you mean to say you're a systemd hater?
What's the problem with it? What's the problem with Fedora?

Jan 21, 2015 4:19 PM in response to ausappleuserby jndupuis1,Fedora and PC Linux OS are distros that are spin off from Red Hat Linux. I enjoyed them on my PC along with Open SuSe. Which is another distro that is stable and supported by Novell. All three were a great experience. KDE desktop was favorite. Just my personal choices I experienced.

Jan 21, 2015 5:11 PM in response to ausappleuserby hexdiy,Launchd(aemon) is the Apple-only flavour of a very user-uncontrollable set of startup items under Apple BSD/OSX.
Sytemd(aemon) is a Debian flavour of a very user-uncontrollable set of startup items under most Debian variants, and is suspected/documented to be under control of the American (US) military.
Thence the wish of more and more ex-Debian developers to elope to a more clean environment, I guess. Sic entrat Devuan.
But hey, I'm only an amateur IT journalist on my spare time...

Jan 21, 2015 5:32 PM in response to ausappleuserby hexdiy,Something else, ausappleuser: network keepalive timers under Yosemite. Several tips have been mentioned here , like running Spotify, keep streaming Netflix in the background etc.
Though possibly effective, those will be eating up bandwidth, which is not very desirable.
One solution/ workaround I've found most effective in my reading is having Apple Wireless Diagnostics running all the time. And I don't think this would be eating up as much bandwidth, but who knows?

Jan 21, 2015 5:36 PM in response to hexdiyby ausappleuser,I'd rather switch to Fedora than apply band-aids to an injured Yosemite. Seems Apple can't come up with a diagnosis, but do we have a prognosis?
Prognosis Negative.....
I vote to euthanise Yosemite so the suffering can cease.

Jan 21, 2015 5:45 PM in response to hexdiyby ausappleuser,So you're claiming Fedora is under control of the US military?
Do you also claim Yosemite is under control of the US military?
Is there anything computer related, created in a western country and distributed that is not under control of the US military?
Maybe I'm working for the US military, trying to coerce people to use Fedora?
I think this discussion is in need of facts.
