Oct 21, 2014 8:42 PM in response to flexyx5by rsbitting,There is no firmware update for my router (and it's a little over a year old); and besides all the other devices on the network are just fine and so was the MBP before Yosemite. Something is broke in Apples update I'd think not the router.

Oct 21, 2014 9:06 PM in response to jalovetteby givacrap, jalovette, maybe this will help. After trying numerous suggestions and having no success, I realized although I had looked at my system library preferences and everything looked normal, I hadn't checked my User Library Preferences in my Home folder. I've included an image of what I found,

You'll see there are numerous duplicates, and in some cases like Bluetooth, triple plists. Multiple plists cause system
conflicts since they almost always have different prefs, Your system simply doesn't know what you want to do, so it quits trying.
What I did was to delete all the prefs in my home folder, did a shutdown and restart. Then I shut down again this time doing
a PRAM reset on startup, and everything has worked well since then. I had to reset my prefs for the plists deleted, so you might
want to write down which ones you're deleting so you know which ones you may need to reset if you choose to try this. I've been running all
day with no problems I'm aware of. Internet is running like it did in Mavericks. Both system and user pref folders look normal.

Oct 21, 2014 9:20 PM in response to MClarkSJby Bellesrad,If this still doesn't work out, as was my case, I read about this in a comment box at PC world. Someone suggested adjusting the Network preferences > Advanced> TCP/IP > Configure IPv6 > set it to local-only. Mine was in automatic and ever since I changed that and applied the settings, my wifi has been running smoothly, zero hiccups and ultra fast!
Hope this helps!!!

Oct 21, 2014 9:26 PM in response to tomstephens89by friscafrisca,Same here, with mavericks I barely had any problems with the wifi, even with 2 of my ipads and my iphone I dont have any problems at all. It seems like it looses the connection for a while. When I restart the computer the wifi is great, as soon as I put my Macbook Pro 15" 2012 to sleep and open it up again the wifi seems to start having problems. It usually happens every 10 minutes that the wifi gets stuck and doesnt load anything at all. At first I thought it was a router problem, I checked it with, again, the 2 ipads and my iphone and there isnt a problem. I strongly believe its the new software Yosemite.
Other than this problem, I love the new looks of OSX
PS. The problem happens at my university too, which has (i believe) powerful routers and speed

Oct 21, 2014 11:33 PM in response to Selesh3by melodicated,I've experienced same issue, but right now I can use wifi quite a bit longer than before. All you have to do is open the System Preferences, and leave it open. And you can enjoy your wifi for longer time without dropping off. Hope this help for someone who desperately need wifi. FYI the internet connection still slower than Mavericks. But this will do for me while waiting Apple to fix this issue.

Oct 22, 2014 2:10 AM in response to melodicatedby Michał Tomczuk,Hi all,
I did most of the hacks posted in here, but they didn't do the trick for me.
What did thou was turning Bluetooth ON.
The moment I turned it on (while my WiFi was trying to reconnect for the nth time) WiFi got connected.
I really hope it will stay OK and maybe even fix the issue for some of you, cause it's more than frustrating.

Oct 22, 2014 2:40 AM in response to tomstephens89by tomstephens89,Guys / Girls,
This thread and others are now getting around certain tech blogging and media websites like follows:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2836812/complaints-mount-about-yosemite-crippling -wifi.html
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/10/21/os-x-yosemite-problems-plague-users/
Hopefully this will push Apple to get on the case and fix the problem. I think people need to stop furiously shouting they have the fixes etc.... Its obviously a problem introduced by Yosemite that Apple needs to resolve. We shouldn't be turning things off, deleting things, upgrading our routers etc....
Loads and loads of people are having wifi related problems and now its getting some exposure. Come on apple!

Oct 22, 2014 3:40 AM in response to tomstephens89by Shraier,Is it only me, or the last round of OS updates (iOS8.x and Yosemite) is a bit buggy? I made a clean install on both (iPhone 5S) and Macbook Pro Retina 13 late 2013 and I have issues on both. iOS crashes twice a day or maybe even more (settings, mail, etc) and on Yosemite I cannot even have a stable WIFI connection for a minute or two, disconnects every time. Besides that, the signal strength is also lower than on Maverics. If I had a "low" but still stable wifi connection on Maverics, now on Yosemite I can't even see the SSID.
I hope they push an update as soon as possible since it's almost impossible to do anything productive with a dropping connection every 30 seconds.
