Feb 6, 2015 5:42 PM in response to tomstephens89by dahradicalest,I've used Mac OS X since Cheetah, I've never wanted to post to a support forum before until now. Mac OS X has had it's share of bugs etc... but this is really really bad! I cannot use my MacBook Air without WiFi. WiFi on Yosemite has always been flaky, I waited patiently for a fix, the latest patch (10.10.2) has done nothing to fix the intermittent WiFi drops. It's so frustrating that there has been no word from Apple. I've tried all the voodoo I could try with this issue, nothing has worked!

Feb 6, 2015 11:07 PM in response to tomstephens89by jndupuis1,A correction to my previous post. The Terminal Command is called createinstallmedia. Those of you that have Mavericks Installer already downloaded and located in your Apps. Instructions on how to use it can be found at Support.Apple.Com or MacWorld. This will create a bootable Installer with Recovery Partition on a USB ThumbDrive 8 GB or Higher. This command works in Yosemite as well. Handy to have if you are not patient enough for Internet Recovery. Don't forget, if you revert back to Mavericks, you will find it runs much better if you Zero Out your HD (at least 1 pass) followed by NPRAM Reset holding the keys for about 3 cycles and wrap up with SMC Rest before installing Mavericks. Yosemite leaves trace bits of itself behind. Inadvertently affecting your fresh Mavericks install. You guessed it, Wi-Fi glitches. Don't install over Yosemite with just a quick erase. I learned from my own experience with this. Take care all.

Feb 7, 2015 7:22 AM in response to ramogidaby jndupuis1,Mac Mini (late 2012). I have Windows 7 Pro installed under Boot Camp and not had connection issues at all. 10.10.0 had connection issues, not Windows. In OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 I established my NetBios name in System Prefs>Sharing>Edit as, example: MY-MINI leaving computer name as is example: My Mac mini, restart. Then set up System Prefs>Network highlight Wi-Fi, then click Advanced, click WINS tab the NetBios name now MY-MINI and changing WORKGROUP to HOMEGROUP, click OK then Apply. Restart. My Windows 7 Pro Networking and Sharing I set up with these same settings. My router then showed the same computer connected in OS X 10.10.0 thru 10.10.2 and Windows 7 Pro in the Router.
Please note that Windows 7 Pro was not experiencing any connection issues prior to changing Network settings. I am merely pointing out that in order for my Linksys Router to see the same computer connected, I had to establish the same WINS server settings in both OS X and Windows.
Short answer: Windows 7 Pro under Boot Camp never gave me any Wi-Fi connection issue during testing of 10.10.0 thru 10.10.2
Hope this helps along with others running Windows in Parallels.

Feb 7, 2015 9:50 AM in response to dahradicalestby alnetloc,I have been on Apple Care support at least 4 times, taken my iMac into the store, and still no resolution. I was hopeful this build would solve the problem when I read the upgrade notes. But no! My situation has been narrowed down to dropped wifi whenever my TimeCapsule wifi goes down each night (I have it set up on a schedule to there is no wifi in the house after midnight to about 6:00 AM). Whenever the wifi comes up in the morning, or after power outage, it have to manually reconnect wifi. It works, but I should not have to manually reconnect every time - especially when I am using Apple products on both ends.

Feb 7, 2015 10:54 AM in response to tomstephens89by vicktoire,I tried the first step recommended here: http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/25/fix-wi-fi-problems-os-x-yosemite/
so far, so good... But I just upgraded this morning and haven't tested it out much yet. I'll report back if it doesn't atand up in the long haul.

Feb 7, 2015 1:35 PM in response to tomstephens89by qvsgv,Heavy apple user. What the **** is going on?
I moved from windows to apple 3 years ago and completely forgot this experience. Since purchasing my iMac 27in top spec machine, find I am never offline looking for solutions. This is disgraceful. Please , please, please if you're reading this - spread the word. Apple care only about grabbing your money, they care nothing about you the customer. All the reasons I changed from windows i.e. endless problems and googling for fixes I now have back again. My only revenge is, in my job I talk to many many people. I am now on a mission to get the word out about this despicable, far too rich corporation. I can't change - I've invested too much money in hardware and software. Perhaps, if enough of us kick up ****, we will get an official response. This would at least be bad publicity. Can anyone else suggest ways to get even? Obviously, numbers count here. I AM A USER NOT A TECHNICIAN!!!!

Feb 7, 2015 2:11 PM in response to qvsgvby MontyUC,I fell your pain... I was using my notebook 'til a couple of months ago (Macbook Pro 15') and I never had problems... obviously when I started having issues, I blamed the internet provider for awhile, spend days in 1(800) calls, then after so many tests... I blamed the modem company through phone calls and emails... and then months later, after more tests... I ridiculously found out the problem was my computer, APPLE!!
I am making here a very long story short, but right now I have the slowest notebook ever in my company and everyone else uses piece of crap old pcs!! Despite my machine cost 3, 4 times those pcs... I became a huge joke, "sure you don't get any virus in your computer Monty, you can't get online"... fantastic, so I use when my 'wifi' decide to works, momentarily.

Feb 7, 2015 2:19 PM in response to MontyUCby qvsgv,Hi MontyUC
I don't use any social media, but perhaps you or someone else reading this post could start a tweet or something with the tag APPLE I AM A USER NOT A TECHNICIAN!!!! They need to be embarrassed into doing something. They have enough money to employ an army of 100 000 techies to work on this problem for ever - so why don't they? The answer clearly is... THEY DON'T CARE!

Feb 7, 2015 2:23 PM in response to qvsgvby MontyUC,I agree with you 100% and I will think about something... and if you don't have Face or Twitter at this point, perfect time to get one of those at least! thank you very much and please let me know if you need any help, regards.

Feb 7, 2015 2:27 PM in response to qvsgvby jndupuis1,There are those of us who cautiously downloaded Yosemite on an external Hard Drive for testing prior to a decision to keep it. Following the rule of thumb from the past. Backup your existing system before upgrade. We also provided feedback to Apple using Apple Feedback. Many of us were contacted by Apple to provide our situation and System/Wi-Fi Diagnostics. Hence the development, thus far, to OS X 10.10.2 update. There is no getting even here.
Your recourse, if you will, is to go to Apple Feedback, fill out the form describing your problem and address your frustration, then Hit the Submit Button. If you read the countless posts of this thread many in the Support Community have tried to come up with work arounds to get through this process of Apple getting Yosemite right. I use "we", but I can only speak for myself. There are those who upgraded to Yosemite and it has dramatically affected their livelihood, right here, in this Thread "OSX Yosemite Wifi issues". Some, of which, cannot revert back to Mavericks. Brand new Macs taken home and WiFi not fully functional. It's all here in this Thread. Use Apple Feedback. They are listening.

Feb 7, 2015 2:35 PM in response to jndupuis1by MontyUC,Hi jndupuis1! I completely understand your point of view... but many computer users don't UNDERSTAND computer as many others do, consumers don't want to listen or read... they want it fixed!! You don't want to purchase Coke and add sugar or sparking water on it... so in my humble opinion, Apple should immediately launch an update solving this issue and move on worrying about iPhone 17.

Feb 7, 2015 2:38 PM in response to jndupuis1by qvsgv,Hi jndupious 1
Clearly the fact that we are having this conversation proves they are not listening. My iMac is brand new, December 2014 and came shipped with yoshite on board.
