Oct 22, 2014 7:38 AM in response to wkyapby Cr@cky,I have been reading about everyone's Yosemite woes and I have to say... I think I am going to hold off on the install. I have been a Mac owner for about 2 years now, and although I've had iPhones and iPods prior to that, the last year has been interesting with Apple. I've read a lot of complaints about iTunes installs, constant OS updates, Safari viruses, etc., and I have to say... even though I'm a bit of a newb to Apple it seems since Jobs stepped down, things have gone south. And I say this because I've had friends trying to convert me from PC to Mac for YEARS. It really p!sses me off that I dropped $1,200 on a computer and I (along with slews of others) have to put up with issues such as the ones I mentioned. Not to mention, Apple has done absolutely NOTHING in response to this issue.
I thank you all for posting your complaints, as it has deterred me from installing Yosemite at this time. And I am sorry everyone here has experiences such a drop off in customer service and product reliability. It's unacceptable to people that pay a premium for a supposedly "superior" product. I will be checking back in periodically to see if Apple has resolved the issue. Any additional advice that people want to offer in the meantime, is greatly appreciated.

Oct 22, 2014 7:58 AM in response to thebpcby Tall Boys Club,Same issue! Just bought my iMac 27" two days ago. Updated yesterday and Wi-Fi wont work. It says it's connected (green lit in networks, full bars on signal) but wont load webpages, etc. Is this the type of issue that will be fixed in an update? Maybe a guide to fix it in simpler terms for us less tech savvy folk? Thanks!

Oct 22, 2014 8:03 AM in response to tomstephens89by senetsomed,Hello,
I am experiencing the same connectivity problems, my internet gets painfully slow in Safari even when the wireless symbol is showing a good connection.
Apple, fix the issue please.

Oct 22, 2014 8:14 AM in response to Tmca19by Anamcr,Hi!, this advice is working temporarily for me. But i insist, this is an issue that apple has to fix. WE CAN'T KEEP WORKING MAGIC, just to make wifi work.
And another thing, how are we supposed to download and install a fix, when some of the users can't even keep a wifi connection on for 10 minutes?? these updates take hours!! I live in a country with poor internet connection and 5GB equals leaving my computer updating all night long. I hope this option makes a real difference until Apple can take care of this.

Oct 22, 2014 8:16 AM in response to tomstephens89by Hevelius,I've also been hit with this problem since the upgrade to Yosemite.
It drops every 15 mins or so but interestingly I only lose WAN (internet) access and not LAN access. The Wifi itself remains active since the LAN connectivity is still up but internet access is down for around 30 seconds each time. Some other people (including posters on Mac Rumors) have noticed the exact same problem (WAN drops but LAN connectivity remains).
It's not the router because I've tried 4 different routers and the exact same problem occurs with the same frequency.
I also have a Windows 8 PC on the same network which doesn't suffer dropouts.
Here are some of the things I have tried.. NONE have worked so far!
1) Disabling Bluetooth
2) Switching to 2.4 from 5Ghz
3) Setting IPv6 TCP/IP to local-link only
4) Using a different router (see above)
5) Running WiFi in Diagnostics mode
6) Changing channel settings for 5GHz mode to use one of the lower channel numbers
7) Removing all the stored Wifi profiles and adding back new ones with a different name
8) Altering Keychain Access to allow unrestricted access to the WiFi profiles
These are all of the recommend fixes offered I'm aware of and yet none of them make the slightest difference in my case. They don't even alter the frequency of the dropouts. Meanwhile, my Windows PC chugs along happily without any network issues, just like my MBA did when it ran Mavericks.
So it seems clear to me that this points to a definite issue with Yosemite. The killer for me is that when the dropout occurs Skype calls bomb out also. Since my livelihood partially depends on using Skype then I'm currently forced into the ridiculous kludge of using a patch cable between my MBA and the router every time I make a Skype call.

Oct 22, 2014 9:13 AM in response to EricIRRIby jzondor,This seemed to work for me as well... going on for over 24 hrs. This was a recommendation made by Apple Support as well. Not sure there's a fix that could be downloaded... other than a script that deletes the folder for you.

Hey there!
I had the same problem after upgrading my MacAir to Yosemite the other day.
Deleting the content of SystemConfiguration and rebooting the system seemed to have worked for me.
go to Finder>Go
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
Hope it will work for you.

Oct 22, 2014 9:42 AM in response to tomstephens89by daviddietz,Apple,
Add one more Macbook that doesn't have working wifi after the Yosemite upgrade. GET YOUR CRAP TOGETHER, APPLE! We don't need to be the beta testers for what should be prime time...on iOS updates, or Mac updates. Pull it together.

Oct 22, 2014 9:58 AM in response to tomstephens89by cagperez,Well, I do not know if that may help anybody for it did for me. I have a MacBook Pro mid 2011, and I had problems with Safari and wifi connections. After 4 days struggling and finding solutions, I found one that worked for me. If you go to
System Preferences > Network > Wifi > Advanced > Preferred Networks
There you will see a huge list of all the wifi networks you have joined since you have the laptop, from airports, library, ...etc, I realized that my home and work networks were at the very end, so I move both to the top of the list, clicked applied and then restart safari, and the problem was solved, I recovered my wifi and my Safari now works perfectly. I think the reason why it was not working before is because the safari tried to connect to a huge list of non-existent wifi networks in that folder before to find the right one and somehow in the process it got stuck and non responsive. so far, it has been 3 days since I did it and I have not had any problems anymore.
Hope it works for you guys!
Best
Carlos

Oct 22, 2014 10:17 AM in response to tomstephens89by LeonardDeveloper,Exact same has happened to me.
My Wifi doesn't necessarily drop but it is excruciatingly slow, The one thing that does work is to turn on and turn off my wifi, Every 4 minutes, It speeds it up a bit but it starts to slow down to unusable speeds once the four minutes has elapsed and then i must start the process all over again.
I am so disappointed in Apple and hope this issue is resolved, Especially as there is no easy straightforward way to downgrade to Mavericks, this is very frustrating and effects my Work.
I have tried almost every 'quickfix' and nothing works for me, Its not up to us to fix this it's Apple's job and they should have had a fix out by now, I believe that if Apple was focused than Yosemite would have gone under rigorous testing to iron out any kinks of this sort before a software release. I think the public beta may have sucked on resources a bit too much, instead of being a help maybe it slowed the QA down a bit.
I really REALLY hope there is a fix to this soon.
Using: iMac Late 2013 27" with 2.4ghz 'Sky HUB' Wifi router. (MacBook Pro running Mavericks works perfect with Internet, Same goes for iPad and iPhone)

Oct 22, 2014 10:23 AM in response to tomstephens89by Anamcr,Hey guys, so, Apple support just contacted me after writing some tweets about this wifi connection issue, and they told me that this option:
go to Finder>Go
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ : press enter, and then reboot.
is actually a permanent solution to the wifi issue, the only thing is that, when you go to a wifi that is already saved in your computer, you have to type in the password again.
This is an option that will not mess with any of the functions of your mac and you will have full functioning wi-fi (i asked a lot of questions and they were very clear about this being a permanent solution (i insisted several times).).

Oct 22, 2014 10:23 AM in response to tomstephens89by mtessa,I have a 2014 MacBook air, and since the update, it will no longer stay connected to the internet. This has happened with home and school wifi, so it is not a router issue. Definitely not happy, Apple!

Unfortunately, it is not a permanent solution. It did not work for both my wife's MBA and my MBP. I believe it does help some however. I'm amazed Apple would claim this one-on-one while still not acknowledging the problem in the large.

Oct 22, 2014 10:29 AM in response to Anamcrby LeonardDeveloper,Do you mean delete the System Config or just simply find it in Finder and then reboot?
