Feb 13, 2015 10:12 AM in response to PFJ30by Huss417,On top of the ongoing wifi issues. Now I have the computer shutting down and restarting on its own. When it restarts it gives the message "Your computer restarted because of a problem" Is anyone else seeing this as well?
It generated a report which was forwarded to Apple. It has now happened three times in the past two days.
This is what I found here but wondering if related to the wifi?

Feb 13, 2015 10:17 AM in response to tomstephens89by uffez,Oh dear - 174 pages with complaints about the wifi issues in Yosemite. When will you wake up and fix it, Apple? I have several MacBooks on 10.10.2 and they are all basically useless due to the constant problems with wifi.
Unless this is fixed shortly I will throw them away and move to whatever else that actually works - maybe even Windows (because that actually works whereas OSx is a lot of crap at the moment)....

Feb 13, 2015 10:17 AM in response to hexdiyby PFJ30,Certainly my recent 9 months road trip around largely affordable wifi - free southern africa made me conscious of a cloud strategy's fallibility. Since I am to take my MBP on the next big trip maybes the time to drop the cloud and just rely on manual synching? Might start a new thread....

To check, anyone Terminal prone: run the "ndp --" command (perfectly safe) and post your output.
If the output has chatter, you may have issues.
If "ls ndp" outputs "no such file or directory", you at least have no issues with that. I think.
Good luck!

Feb 13, 2015 12:14 PM in response to Convurgencyby Satora,I did an update to Yosemite and I've not been able to do any work for 3 days. I've just done a clean install and still just as bad (and also wiped out Bootcamp which I'm not happy about either). I'm using two routers but even though plugged in, never really use the second one. I switched over to it and everything perfect, Safari lightening fast. So I'd say its down to router compatibility.
Cheers

Feb 13, 2015 5:40 PM in response to tomstephens89by jndupuis1,Let's go ahead and let all the bugs out of YOSEMITE (Rock). If you wanna have a Hoot N Hollar, Try running Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously!! Then do a speed test. That;s right! You will get a laugh worth every dollar you spent on your Mac, just by downloading this Zany OS FREE!!! Don't be shocked run all three together! Yosemite is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! Have fun with this one.

OK Paul, thanx, at least I think you have Handoff/ Continuity inactive and iDevices inactive. Or iCloud inactive. ubd (Ubiquity Daemon) is the iCloud engine daemon, neighbor discovery protocol (ndp) is the or part of Yosemite IP v.6 discovery (Bonjour) protocol.`
To all of you with WiFi issues on Yosemite, please go to Activity Monitor and kill all and every PID with the name of "ndp" in it. Your router or ISP is probably not up to the IPv.6 job (yet) .
Any better?

Feb 13, 2015 7:41 PM in response to jndupuis1by hexdiy,Do you have a clickable link, John? I bet the outcome spells Broadcom tri-band. Something like this:
http://9to5mac.com/2013/01/02/apples-2013-macs-will-have-superfast-802-11ac-gig- wifi/
Simply not working I think.
Or this: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wireless-LAN/802.11-Wireless-LAN-Solutions/BCM4 334
Not particularly functional either.

Feb 13, 2015 8:41 PM in response to hexdiyby jndupuis1,Hi Hex! BCM43xx or 4334 is more like it in my Mini. I have to say that in my previous testing of Yosemite, I soon discovered shortly that Keychain was a Bad Idea as my wife has Keychain active on her iPhone 5s. Every bad habit Keychain picked up in her phone got brought home to my Mini. It was ridiculous. Just like a bad virus.
So back to the Broadcom. I noticed, even reverting back to Mavericks, Wi-Fi connectivity is hit or miss upon Startup with Ethernet and Wi-Fi together. Wi-Fi with the classic "!" seemed to be on going. Changed Network settings and NetBios name ( hence my tutorial way back in this thread ) helped a little. Logout then Login or restart and Wi-Fi would connect. So, this goes back into Mavericks as well. Easily over looked. Why Wi-Fi when connected to Ethernet? Well, wireless printer in my case and I like the steady reliability of Ethernet. I had to make a choice, Wi-Fi won. Ethernet just sits as a standby unplugged from the Mini. Yosemite runs brilliant on my Mini - Wi-Fi only and no Keychain. I maintain my Network settings.
For those who are interested, I run a Linksys N750 (EA3500) router and Motorola Arris SB6141 Modem. Both of which are Gigabyte Ethernet and Router boasts 300+ Mbps Wi-Fi speed. I run Macs on 5 GHz only and all others can only connect to 2.4 GHz anyway. All router SSID's are separate names and pass phrases. WPA/WPA2 Personal Mixed. Local Network Host Name is a name of my choosing. Incorrect Router set up and Network settings will have you chasing your tail in circles.

Feb 13, 2015 9:03 PM in response to hexdiyby jndupuis1,I failed to mention that Discoveryd is pain as well. When booting into Yosemite it saw all of the applications installed on my system. It would show I had applications installed that were on my Mavericks drive. So it is very snoopy and interfering. I could not truly test Yosemite adequately until I installed it as the "Stand Alone" OS on my internal HD. Getting rid of Yosemite and the mess it left to revert back to Mavericks, well, is another story. Yet another point to ponder. I have no true understanding how it works just the results and questions it poses. Maybe they are trying to squeeze blood from a turnip.

Feb 14, 2015 10:19 AM in response to PFJ30by jndupuis1,Hi!
I had Ethernet and Wi-Fi running together both in Mavericks and Yosemite. I changed my .local name in Mavericks and in the WINS Tab changed from WORKGROUP to HOMEGROUP. Then set Wi-Fi before Ethernet in Set Service Order. This helped but still Wi-Fi would connect at boot up or sometimes not. When I eliminated Ethernet all together I have a stable Wi-Fi connection in Mavericks as well when running Yosemite. I chose Wi-Fi due to my wireless printer which I do not have room to use it on USB. I am and always have been on 5 GHz band with both Macs and iPhone. Ethernet is most reliable and works great, however, I regret having no space in my home or desk area to hardwire the printer. Ethernet would be my choice the speed is terrific. I have not had to turn off Bluetooth nor attempt any of the workarounds, thankfully. I am running Mavericks until there is a sign that Yosemite might one day be stable or skipped over to the next generation OS X. I was a lucky one who's Mac ran Yosemite with no issues rendering my Mac a brick as they say. I just do not use and have no need to use all the features that Yosemite boasts. If my Mac Mini could, I would have Snow Leopard installed in a New York second - not going to happen. It mystifies me, still, how well Windows 7 Pro is running like clockwork through this whole ordeal. Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and all run flawless. All I had to do in Windows was to change my NetBIOS name then change to HOMEGROUP so my Router saw the same Mac Mini connected whether in OS X or Windows 7 Pro. My router channel is set to Auto and I'm WPA/WPA2 Personal Mixed in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. No IPv6, so I leave the router in default settings when it come to IPv6. Cheers.
Mac Mini (late 2012) Mavericks 10.9.5, Boot Camp Windows 7 Pro, Mac Book Pro (late 2012) Mavericks 10.9.5, iPhone 5s iOS 7.1.2, Motorola ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 Cable Modem, Linksys N750 (EA3500) Router
