Q: OSX Yosemite Wifi issues

Hi there,

I upgraded my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2014 revision) to OS X Yosemite last night and am now having issues when using my home WiFi connection. Whilst it connects to either the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network, it is basically unusable. Web pages take minutes to load (if they even load at all), dropbox doesn't sync because it can't get a connection and even trying to get to the router config page is extremely slow and hit/miss.

Tethering to my iPhone seems to work ok, as does using my home network via wired ethernet.

Are any others having problems with Yosemite? Wifi was working fine on Mavericks.

Tom

All who are familiar with Open Source testing of an OS assumes a personal risk of installing a Beta release of any kind and certainly not for use as a primary OS. Beta's are a pre-release for testing and reporting issues. Free-lance developers as well as developers are welcomed to create resolves to known issues in Beta versions and submit their ideas and suggestions. The company assumes no liability for the installation of a Beta OS. Official releases are the only OS X's that are supported officially. That's with any OS whether Unix, Linux or OS X and Windows. The known issues in Yosemite are currently being addressed. Everyone is frustrated and waiting patiently, at best.

Things wi-fi wise have drastically improved for me with latest beta

Same here. Actually, mine improved two or three seeds ago and has remained solid. There's hope for all of you still affected with WiFi issues.

Well as a simple user and not a technician, let me confirm eh... well... absolutely nothing. Even to check an email involves endless pfaffing around. Stuck with apple for the next few years due to substantial investment (>5000€'s/one man business) but will never forget the bad joke I am now involved in. Apple, hang your negligent heads in shame.

Apologies if you have already said but have you tried going into a store for help?  They could maybe do a clean install for you?

Question to no one in particular:

I have so far skipped the 10.10.2 update(s) for my connection has been somewhat stable on 10.10.1 (as long as I am close enough to the router.)

I have been sent a link to try 10.10.3 Beta, but since I have only one Mac computer, which is the one I use for both professional and personal purposes, it might not be the best idea for me to test a Beta version.

It sounds like this latest Beta might have finally solved a lot of people's connection woes, so I am looking forward to the official release.

Now, question (bear with me, I am a very average user) - if I skip 10.10.2 and update straight to 10.10.3 (from 10.10.1) when it's out, will it mess things up?

    Thanks!

So all you happy people. Is this based on 10.10.3? If so it can't get here fast enough for me.

Glad to hear there is soon to be light at the end of the tunnel.

I've had this issue since the first Public Beta of Mavericks. It's never gone away. It goes through periods of less frequency but can happen once a minute at times. I tried changing the locations of my iMac and both my Airport Extremes. The one closest to the iMac is a bridged older model Airport while the new one is brand new. The bridged device is connected to the main via a new cable. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! My work is suffering because of it. Because it happens under load, things like downloading website backup archive fails because I can't DL them before it drops. Also Skyping with family over seas and some customers can drop frequently. It's not a good look.

I'm still having issues with 10.10.3 installed. Today is particularly bad for me. That's why I posted another message today.
