Apr 21, 2015 1:55 AM in response to Supreemby ausappleuser,There are obviously problems, Apple's had multiple attempts at correcting these problems, this has persisted since the release of 10.10.0 in mid October last year and still Apple will not allow us to revert to Mavericks using their store. It's been 6 months.
Apple Offer Mavericks. Get over yourselves.

Apr 21, 2015 2:03 AM in response to ausappleuserby osihara,It's been going since Mavericks. My issue started with the install of the very first Public Beta of Mavericks. I do not know if this issue was around with the Developer Betas.

Apr 21, 2015 3:06 AM in response to Monty72by bratman91,I am a British Telecom (BT) user with Infinity broadband and HomeHub 5. My iMac is located in a garden office and a BT Wholesale Speed Test frequently shows my speeds to be close to the maximum but a speedtest immdediately after can show speeds almost at zero. For me, speeds seem to vary very considerably within just a few seconds; the Wifi icon shows the full bars but a Wifi diagnostics often reports a weak signal (which, given the distance between my iMac and router is probably correct). My experience is that, without changing anything or disconnecting Blutooth devices, my speeds can vary as much as yours do within a few seconds. I don't know if this is a feature common to all computers but my iMac/Yosemite seems to be extraordinarily sensitive to signal strength variations.

Apr 21, 2015 3:29 AM in response to tomstephens89by lv217m,I was able to fix my "yosemite slow wlan" problem by changing Airport Extreme primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS).

Apr 21, 2015 6:13 AM in response to osiharaby ausappleuser,Oshira you seem to be correct. Googling Mavericks Wifi presents plenty of evidence. I never had any troubles with Mavericks but maybe reverting to Mountain Lion is the most reliable option, and subsequently doing without some features. The only I would miss a little is iCloud keychain sync, but I would gain functional Bluetooth and Wifi.
Internet Recovery would take care of this. I think it's time to move on and back.
Perhaps OSXI or OS 10.11 will work out better and incorporate features such as reliable WiFi and simultaneous Bluetooth and WiFi.

Apr 21, 2015 7:25 AM in response to ausappleuserby osihara,Hmm. Best thing would be if they fixed this ASAP. Going backwards is the worst thing to do I find. It might fix the issue but it brings others. I am optimistic since I spoke with their Wi-FI technical consultant.

Apr 21, 2015 8:12 AM in response to osiharaby steveOooo,II've gone back from yosemite to mountain lion and have had no issues - exactly the same as I left it! No wifi issues - occasionally it might take longer than normal connecting when coming out of sleep
its a shame as I liked the look of yosemite but wifi / crashing to login screen / defaulting to second screen on startup / general graphical glitches / sluggishness means ill be staying on mountain lion hand waiting for 10.11 or getting a windows machine

Apr 23, 2015 6:11 PM in response to hvdkby wombat2k,Well this is just great. Had been doing OK with 10.10.2 and ever since upgrading to 10.10.3, I'm back to square one with unusable wifi.

Apr 23, 2015 10:34 PM in response to tomstephens89by fyshu,It has not fixed the problem by re-installing OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update as some people here suggested.

Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM in response to tomstephens89by Tiammatj,I had issues since upgrading to Yosemite as well (MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid 2012). Same story with wireless net working perfectly and suddenly since Yosemite random problems with either losing connection occasionally or speeds were absolutely horrible (7-15Mbit/s instead of normal 90-140Mbit/s) - although this was only affecting 5Ghz frequency. I was patiently waiting for follow-up OSX updates as so many people were complaining about this. While waiting until 10.10.3 and problem still existing I started to investigate a bit more and try various easy solutions such as disabling bluetooth, trying vanilla installation by installing Yosemite to external drive -- didn't help.
What I noticed though during the time is
1) Issue was affecting both Macbook Air "11 2010 and Macbook Pro
2) Wifi was working absolutely fine whenever laptops were using DFS channels.
3) Whenever base stations switched channels (e.g from 100++ -> 36 or from non DFS to DFS channels) laptops lost connectivity until manually switched between different wlan or on/off
What I did a few days ago was moving the problem resolution from laptops to base stations. I have AirPort Time Capsule .ac version extended over wifi with another Capsule with .n version. I reset both with default factory setting leaving all the settings to default and this time also using single wireless network name instead of separating the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz ones. To my surprise all my Yosemite laptops are now working correctly also with the non DFS channels with 5Ghz / wide channels and I don't (at least so far) see any wireless network drops. Likewise speed is working like it used to do + as additional bonus also roaming between base stations when moving around apartment also works much better than it used to.
What a weird problem, and still it would be nice to know what really is the root cause of all the issues when moving from Maverics/Mountain Lion -> Yosemite.

Apr 24, 2015 8:01 AM in response to Tiammatjby IMacvsPC,I noticed using diagnositics, mine will lose ISP,Inetrnet and server during test intermttently, sometimes it will respond inetrnet working , and sometimes go thru the unplug modem routine, who's on first routine,. Ipad and cell have no issues on same wifi. And my Verizon Hotspot works alot better than the home network, just have to pay extra for it.
