May 10, 2015 4:32 PM in response to tomstephens89by Shf66,Macbook Air 2014
For normal operation set in the router settings:
1. Chanel 001 (Mac starting from the first channel, and if Your neighbors or other network channel is 001 and you have for example 008 then you are screwed)
2. The timezone preferably -06:00 somewhere USA
3. 802.11 b
Restart Your computer, and lo! Works!
Thank you so much guys from Russia
http://wifi-mac.blogspot.ru/ they gave detailed information about the problem.

May 10, 2015 9:35 PM in response to Shf66by osihara,... and I suppose you think the topic should be closed now!
I love the way people post a fix without reading at least some of this thread. If you had you'd see that one fix is not going to work for everyone. This is a complicated issue that is actually most likely a bunch of issues with similar outcomes that confuses the whole issue for us. Some fixes work for some and not others. For me nothing has every changed the behaviour in anyway. The best I've got is a couple of days relief after and OS X update. But it seems to just start again with no apparent pattern reflecting why.
Firstly I live rural. There isn't much going on out here including neighbours. Have one that uses wi_fi but that's it and I can only detect it with my phone or iPad if I'm down by the edge of my yard. Also if anyone is able to shed some light on this for me. My iMac with the issue is connected to a bridged extreme (not the only device). I can't control the channel or even tell what it's using. It's connected to main router by a fresh cable and the routers do not wi-fi to wi-fi. I can see or set the Radio Mode. Changing that never seemed to have any effect. The iMac is dropped down to 2.4_mhz by the OS issue; while other devices seem to be ok.
Please stop posting fixes assuming you're the hero and it's all done just because it worked for you. Offer the advice and your experience for what it's worth.

May 10, 2015 9:55 PM in response to tomstephens89by ojitos1985,Absolutely unusable. I got disconnected every 3 minutes or so. Reseted my macbook pro completely (wiped the partition) with no luck. Fresh Yosemite 10.10.03 keep dropping wifi every 2 or 3 minutes.
Cant work, can't netflix, can't do anything, even posting here was a pain in the.11 May 2015, problem still there.

May 10, 2015 10:03 PM in response to ojitos1985by osihara,Yea, I get days like that and other days it's almost perfect. just a couple of drops in the day. Sometimes it seems to be specific to an action like using Safari and other times it'll be something else that triggers it. The worst one (sounds like yours) is when Safari plays up. click a link and it drops. reload a page and it drops. I've setup another bridged express near my iMac for times like that. Connect the iMac to it directly and runs solid. I can't keep it like that because it actually has another hard-wired (ethernet) job so that one port has to be shared.
- Amendment - I meant to add that I often think that one of Apples bugs has actually damaged the wi-Fi card and keep expecting to hear a public announcement on a wi-Fi card replacement scheme; as seen with other issues. I'd never be so lucky. Besides the fact I'd have to drive 20km to the nearest qualified outlet; and my iMac is bolted to the wall.

May 11, 2015 8:51 AM in response to tomstephens89by MortenJamesCarlsen,I have found a reliable way of dealing with all this wi-fi nonsense...
Whenever I have network outage which is EVERY time I close the lid on my rMBP. Or whenever Yosemite feels like not wanting to connect,
I just launch Google Chrome an go to some generic web address... Since 2 weeks I have used this workaround and it works every time.
I came to this after Safari on Yosemite completely malfunctioned Developer Wise and I had to switch all development to Google Chrome.
I wondered why I NEVER had any outage of network using that... So one day while experiencing the outage after waking up the sleepy retina MBP I launched google chrome and it immediately began working...
So perhaps this will help some of you out there. Until Apple calls google and asks them for a solution ;-)

May 11, 2015 10:46 PM in response to osiharaby osihara,Issue for me re discovery is that I need all the components now. I think Apple are trying to fix it. They have previously been in contact with me seeking information and data.
...BUT! I conclude that even though I'm trying to stay level headed about this I do also feel the frustrations we are all feeling in some way. For me this has gone on since the day I put the first beta in. And just so I have said it at least once, yes it is **** well time they had this fixed. I'm a bit discouraged because I have countless issues with various Apple items (not exclusively Apple). Such as Apple keep messing with iTunes streaming to AppleTV. I've pondered that it might be related, as well as other miner issues. Just seems to be a lot more than when Steve was working there. Think Tim needs to do less touring and more managing! Perhaps more yelling! Weed out those B & C staff that appear to have crept into the folds.

May 12, 2015 12:53 AM in response to Herkshireby osihara,Read your message. Was going to say, Well said and I think that last paragraph is still relevant. The joke is on them but the pain is on us.
non-incidentally I just had a half second power failure here. The PC power supply died. My partners Keyboard stopped being recognised by her iMac. I managed to fix it by momentarily putting mine in and swapping back. Before doing that no restart or port swap helped. Fortunately my iMac is still functional... or maybe not. an excuse to buy a new one might have solved my issue. Not that I can afford it so I would have just been stuck.

May 12, 2015 1:49 AM in response to tomstephens89by osihara,Has anyone tried replacing an iMac airport card to see if the issue persists? I am considering it, doesn't cost much but worth asking anyway.

May 12, 2015 1:53 AM in response to osiharaby Herkshire,Just reposting my original post from above that osihara was referring to. Osihara, I think the solution would need to be software based which is why I thought the USB modem would work as it comes with it's own firmware. Unfortunately, even though I have managed to improve the the time between disconnects (approx 15 mins on average now) it is still disconnecting in spite of the firmware. The issue seems to be more deeply rooted within Yosemite...
Original Post:
Today I thought that I would try to circumvent the hardware and software of the my 2015 MBP by purchasing a wifi usb modem. Unfortunately, most of these devices are not mac compatible. I did stumble across the Edimax AC450 which a few reports on the net said was 10.10 compatible. I checked their website and it appeared that they had recently release a driver for 10.10. Anyway, long story short, I bought it downloaded the drivers and I am back up and running with absolutely no dropouts. I have the internal wifi on my MBP switched off and I am solely connected through the Edimax. I bought it in Sydney for $23. Note that you will need a 5ghz network for the adapter to pick it up. Hope this offers some relief to those of you plagued with this ongoing issue.
In case Apple employees read this, you should 100% be providing this adapter free of charge to anyone experiencing these problems until Apple can solve the yosemite issues for all users. There is a wonderful irony in the fact that a $23 adapter solved the problems that a company worth over half a trillion dollars could not, and in case you are laughing, Apple, the joke is on you

May 12, 2015 2:14 AM in response to Herkshireby osihara,Thanks...
Hmm.. But that doesn't account for people who have wiped their systems and reinstalled fresh... Also the weird inconsistent nature suggests there is possibly some interplay between the software and hardware. Some weird perfect storm thing that includes old and new hardware, but not all of it. This is why I think Apple haven't fixed it; not because they don't care or what ever, but that it's kicking their bets as much as ours. Although they have virtually unlimited resources so no excuses in tended. They can make their own. Or the hardware has been damaged by an initial event caused by a bug, not the first time. Maybe a fault causing a current surge on that power rail. But I suspect other things would have suffered since it's not likely on an isolated power rail.
One thing I do know for sure. Some of us are going mad thinking about this! Just a liiiiiiiitle crazy...
I'm going to take my iMac off the wall and take it to my folks place next trip down to try it in a completely 100% different environment. It's just a 3 hour drive. After that I'll buy a second hand card and try it if I haven't heard back from someone who's tried it.

May 12, 2015 4:55 AM in response to osiharaby gregtx2,You may be on to something. The last time my iMac lost connectivity (would not reconnect to my Apple router without a reboot) was < 5 minutes after I started streaming music to one of my Apple TV devices. Just another data point to consider.

May 12, 2015 9:30 AM in response to tomstephens89by tomstephens89,Update from me again....
It seems that since the last Yosemite update I am suffering extremely poor performance on Wifi with my rMBP.
I am the OP, when I initially upgraded to yosemite I had non working/dropping out wifi... But it seemed to sort itself out after a couple of updates... now however I experience extremely high latency and slow connection speed.
Both at home on my Apple Airport Extreme, and at work with the Ubiquiti Unifi system.
Sort yourself out Apple!
£2000 laptop, and the wifi is total garbage.

May 13, 2015 1:30 AM in response to tomstephens89by beejee151,I am also having this problem now - for the first time ever. I use an Imac. The wifi drop issue has been happening for about the last two upgrades of Yosemite for me - I am now on 10.10.3, and the issue occurs about every 20-30 minutes. I have to turn Wifi off on my Imac, leave it a bit, then turn it back on again.
FRUSTRATED!
Apple, are you listening to us?
