Oct 25, 2014 5:28 AM in response to tomstephens89by carlossouza,I can confirm that the SMC reset did the trick for me on my Macbook Retina (early 2013). It's been three days and got no problems at all!
Also, I installed Yosemite on my (late 2007) Macbook Pro and it has no problems as well.

Oct 25, 2014 5:33 AM in response to carlossouzaby Hevelius,I tried SMC reset and it had no effect whatsoever. Dropouts are occurring at the exact same frequency as before.

Oct 25, 2014 6:00 AM in response to miropbby HelgeAsk,Same thing here, connecting to a 5Ghz network works poorly (a problem that started with Yosemite, I’m running a Macbook Air & Time Capsule). I’ve noticed that if I turn on and off Wi-Fi repeatedly, it will eventually connect.

Oct 25, 2014 6:19 AM in response to tomstephens89by acharen,I keep getting the wifi error "Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address" and the connection drops. This is not good!

Oct 25, 2014 6:23 AM in response to tomstephens89by Gianvito Fanelli,Having the same problem on my iMac (late 2012). I tried to re-install Yosemite, to delete 'system configuration' files, I eventually changed my Wi-Fi network, but nothing changed. I'm very bored for this issue, I cannot work as I usually do and what's drive me crazy it's this silence from Apple. I have own more than 4 Macs and iPhones in my life, and I've had never been so annoyed like in these days.
I demand a fix and the excuses of the responsables.

Oct 25, 2014 6:49 AM in response to tomstephens89by chtp,So Apple Support just called me back (I still have phone support on a new Mac). They suggested that I turn off AirDrop by making the Mac NOT discoverable - apparently this is a Finder option/preference. Then they suggested turning off Bluetooth altogether.
I'm not on Yosemite - I rolled back to Mavericks - and I'm not interested in a further frustration until there's a real fix. Thought I'd add this into the mix for those of you still on Yosemite.

Oct 25, 2014 7:02 AM in response to chtpby macelangelo,So...
I did some digging around on the internet last night after posting here again that I had not found a fix. I remembered that some Mavericks users were having the same problems with bluetooth/wifi after Mavericks was released.
Here's a link to an article with another possible fix. It's describes how to delete a bluetooth-related .plist file from your preferences. It seemed to help Mavericks users who were having problems.
http://www.imore.com/how-fix-mavericks-wi-fi-zapping-bluetooth
I tried this along with deleting any .plist from /Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ that looked like anything related to networking.
NetworkInterfaces.plist, preferences.plist, com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
Then rebooted.
Tried it last night, and I'm now able to stay connected on my 5 ghz network (which was constantly dropping before) and stay connected.
Still drops when the laptop is asleep, but better than nothing.
This morning, I was able to simply select my 5 ghz network, and the connection appears to stick.
I'm also keeping bluetooth off for now. It ***** because I'm having to use a wired keyboard instead of either of my bluetooth ones. I may try to enable bluetooth later today and see what happens.
As with any of these "fixes", this may or may not help anyone that is having problems. As you can see from reading this discussion, people have tried a variety things and there's currently not a consistent fix nor any acknowledgement from Apple as far as I know.
Anyway give the above a shot.

Oct 25, 2014 7:31 AM in response to tomstephens89by mr.dudeneck,I was having the same problems with my small office network after switching to Yosemite. My main concerns were with printing and use of Quickbooks 2014 for Mac in "Multiuser" mode, which uses an app called Quickbooks Server.
In any event, I tried many of the solutions I found on this thread and nothing worked. Here is what DID finally work.
Our network was based off of an Airport Express base station and it had not been reset in quite a while. Resetting it was actually something I had been meaning to do, even prior to the Yosemite upgrade. I gave it a shot using a hard reset and everything I use our office network for has been working great ever since (2 full days now).
I haven't been keeping up to date on the news with this bug, so perhaps this has already been resolved. If not, I hope this helps.

Oct 25, 2014 8:05 AM in response to tomstephens89by jweissman,You guys are lucky (or not) to even have been able to complete the download. I've tried twice on my iMac over home WiFi & after over 15 hrs. only got to about 1.5 of 5+ GB before pulling the plug. Tried "Pause" then "Resume" to no avail. The slow download speed is baffling as I do not have a problem otherwise. Even SpeedTest confirms proper functioning.
Guess I'll wait for 10.10.1. Maybe it'll all get worked out by then.

Oct 25, 2014 8:09 AM in response to jweissmanby marcelokalib,That´s what I would do. I wouldn´t install Yosemite. In fact, I´m already back to mavericks, as yosemite was impossible to work with due to the wifi issue. I`ll wait until I see that they fixed this stupid bug. Again: Great job Apple. That´s what I call a company that respect clients.

Oct 25, 2014 8:53 AM in response to marcelokalibby Mattgr01,I wiped my Macbook Pro last night and went back to Mavericks as well. I called AppleCare 3 separate times, with no real good outcome. The first guy was an as*, very holy about 'theres no way we did this' and told me to call my internet provider. Never mind the fact that I have 30 other devices in the house that all work just fine and this all started right after the upgrade. Gave me 3 things to try, they seemed to work great, but after a reboot, or after a sleep, it all came back.
The second call was pointless, more of the try this 4 things, and they all work enough to get off the phone, but within hours it was back to the same 5 minutes online then dropping (with no indication)
The third call was a last ditch effort to keep me from wiping my machine back to Mavericks. Just tell me, ACKNOWLEDGE, verify, confirm, you have a bug and are aware, and you are working on a fix. But in the 6 different people I talked to over the last week on the issue, the all acted like I was the first customer to call in with the problem. When I told them there is multiple threads on the support board with everyone suffering the same cruel fate, and later in the week, even news articles about it. The wireless 'expert' said he was unaware. This moreover then anything else is what annoyed me, I can deal with the dropping wifi for another week if you guys said you knew of it and were working on the fix, but to just give me the run around and tell me to call either my router manufacture or my ISP...
Mavericks works wonderfully now by the way Applecare, but according to you that must be because the ISP fixed their issues exactly at the same time I rebuilt my machine.

Oct 25, 2014 10:52 AM in response to tomstephens89by Locutus of Apple,I tried the shft+control+option+power button solution on my Macbook Air with Yosemite, haven't dropped wifi since.

Oct 25, 2014 11:03 AM in response to MiguelDby lcolchester,My late 2013 iMac has been experiencing constant wireless connection dropouts& crawling when it manages to connect since upgrading to Yosemite.
My aged MBP is working fine/as normal on 10.7.5.
Does Yosemite only work with Airport boxes or are there issues with those too?
I am somewhat annoyed right now

Oct 25, 2014 11:25 AM in response to Heveliusby macrage2013,Try this, it worked for my brother and now (yea) me. Open your HD, type .plist in the search. Make sure you're searching "This Mac". This is an image of the results he received.
Next, highlight one of the plists, I did a Bluetooth plist. On the bottom of the window you will see the path to that plist. If you do not see the Preference Folder in the path, it's a duplicate in the wrong app/program folder and will not run properly. Turns out all these were that way except the Booklist plist. He deleted CMD+DEL all the files in this window. Then he did a shutdown. When he restarted he did the search again and this is what came back.
All the other files had been placed in the proper folders and everything was working properly, and his has for 4 days running. After I did this I checked to see if my old prefs had changed and they didn't. Later, I also did a PRAM reset for the heck of it and then a permissions repair. FYI I'm using a early 2013 iMac 21.5
What a relief, I hope this can work for you also.

Oct 25, 2014 11:25 AM in response to Locutus of Appleby lcolchester,@Locutus of Apple - Thanks for the link - it may have helped with the connectivity but a couple of previous fixes worked for a while so fingers crossed it sticks!
