Oct 25, 2014 11:26 AM in response to lcolchesterby Hamjat,My wireless seem to be stable for the past hour...it use to go off after every few min. What I did eventually after trying most of the recommendations without luck is to turn off my router by unplugging the power cable. After few seconds I plug it back and so far so good. let me make sure...yep wifi still rocking.

Oct 25, 2014 11:52 AM in response to essencevictoriaby essencevictoria,My home WiFi via Cable Router, Airport Extreme as captured on a late 2013 Core i7 Fusion iMac.
Guess I'm one of lucky ones for a change, no problems on this and two laptops on either my home network or when out and about with laptops ( MBP's 2008 is slow but only 2GB ram but holds signal on a marina WiFi ), the Mid 2012 Retina with 16GB ram opens from sleep with no problem.
All had been on Yosemite thru four public Betas . I took Apple's advice and downloaded and installed final release.
So far, all humming along.
Hopefully those suffering WiFi problems will soon enjoy what I am. We've come a long way from OS 7.5.5 and the old dial up modem.

Oct 25, 2014 12:02 PM in response to essencevictoriaby PJWilkin,The Wifi issues are definitely irritating
When I start my MBP, my Wifi TXRate is 200mbps on 5Ghz 802.11ac .. I also cannot connect to my Time Capsule (either via Finder, or Time Machine)
If I stop Wifi, wait 5 seconds, and restart it ... the rate goes up to 1300mbps, and can connect to the Time Capsule
Add to the fact that a Wifi Scan of available SSID's shows that these drop out periodically, definitely leads me to believe this is a fault deep inside Yosemite
Apple cannot blame the router/ISP as it's a Time Capsule, and has been rebooted, and no other device on my network see's these issues .. only the MBP with Yosemite (which was working well with Mavericks)
I'm hoping more of the Tech News sites pick this up and shame apple into admitting the problems with Yosemite, faults their support staff seem unwilling confirm exist or are Yosemite's fault

Oct 25, 2014 12:30 PM in response to Andrew-ACT-ACSAby PJWilkin,Andrew-ACT-ACSA's post definitely seems to fix some of the discovery issues on Yosemite
I've tried the restart of discoveryd that he suggests when my MBP stops seeing the TimeCapsule, and it works
Given this issue has existed since the Beta's and from reading several posts both on these forums and the internet, it appears to have been present for a while with Apple being informed
I just hope Apple fix the issue soon, as Wifi performance is dire on Yosemite, and devices disappear or are inaccessible

Oct 25, 2014 12:37 PM in response to mamaricciby jannine51,I have made the change you suggested allowing all applications to access this item. My problem is that upgrading (maybe it will be more correct to write downgrading) to OS X Yosemite the speed of transmission between my iMAC, through an Apple wifi network (Time Capsule) and my Apple TV is driving me and the rest of the family crazy. It takes less time to download from Internet than to make my home 100% Apple network actually work. No need to repeat that Maverick was working perfectly before. If somebody else has the same or similar problem with Apple TV and they have found a solution I will love to hear about it. Thanks in advanced.

This issue problems with amd gpu on early 2011 macbook pro has been going on since 2012, has been picked up by many Tech News sites, but the only acknowledgement is iMac-specific iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program. MBPs which have AMD like the following
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011) - Technical Specifications
- AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memory on 2.0GHz configuration; or AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory on 2.2GHz configuration
have no recall despite being widely publicized.
To Apple's credit they have had several recalls, but this specific AMD one has been long-standing one for a long time.

Oct 25, 2014 1:49 PM in response to essencevictoriaby essencevictoria,Just checked my Apple TV. Is the 2nd model (720p), works perfectly with my Library in iTunes 12.01.26 and iPhoto 9.6 (910.29). So I guess all I can offer is that Yosemite 10.10 , via Airport Extreme is working fine for me.
Maybe being in Public Beta program set up my system differently. I must add that I run Disk Utility via Command+R at least once a week and I usually shut down my iMac every night via the auto shut down in Cocktail after running Pilot in Ver 8.0.

Of course once can use the free YASU. ( see Macupdate http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/13416/yasu )
ONYX is yet to be updated for Yosemite.

Oct 25, 2014 2:24 PM in response to tomstephens89by OceanDrifter,MacBook Pro 15" early 2011, 2.3GHx Intel i7
I have had wifi drop out issues for about 3 months now so the issue goes back to Mavericks for me and it is persisting with Yosemite.
Like others the wifi drops after random time intervals, but mostly within 15 minutes.
When the wifi drops the wifi status in the Menu bar shows 4 bars and it says WiFi: On, but the router is not present. If I turn WiFi off it will not turn on again, either in the menu bar or in System Preferences > Network
Any of the fixes mentioned in this thread can work but I have not found any to be a long term solution. Believe me, I have tried everything and more, including removing the airport card, cleaning contacts and reinstalling. The software fixes include, resetting PRAM, resetting SMC, trashing System Config, deleting plists, deleting passwords in Keychain, deleting wifi from the network pane in System Prefs, turning off bluetooth etc etc.
All the above software fixes involve a restart of the mac to reconnect the Wifi and often just restarting the computer is as good as any of the software fixes, but even a restart does not always work first time for me, and in any case it is not a long-term solution to restart your computer every 5 minutes.
Sometimes after a restart the WiFi hardware is even not found and the only fix for that seems to be restarting the router followed by a restart of the computer.
What is strange is that I only get this problem on one router - my home internet. At work and other places the wifi is perfectly stable. At home, other devices connect to the router fine and are stable (iPhone and windows PCs).
So, I have also tried altering settings on the router, switching channels, running just 2.4 or 5 GHz and other fixes - none make any difference for me.
This is a very strange problem and has been frustrating me for a while and predates Yosemite. There are lots of threads on the internet of this issue.

Oct 25, 2014 5:32 PM in response to tomstephens89by Smiddles,Hi All,
Here's my Yose-might (and sometimes it might-not) adventures.
Before Yosemite -
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Apple Cinema External Monitor, AirPort Time Capsule V2, and Fritz!box 7390
Mavericks OS
All working perfectly
After Yosemite Upgrade Disasters -
1. Internet access was slow and dropped out constantly
2. Intermittent system resets with panic kernel reports
3. Corrupted start up partition that could not be verified or repaired even with Command R Disk Utility
4. Log on screen appeared only on laptop and not on external screen as on Maverick
Fixes
I took a took a Time Machine Backup and reformatted the hard disk using Disk Utilities. After that I reinstalled the backup. This fixed Disasters 3 & 4.
The panic report indicated the "launchd" was causing the constant intermittent resets. Activity Monitor showed that massive CPU resources were used by Launchd. Console messages showed a constant stream of messages saying Launchd could not execute something or other. It turned out there was a plist from an old Sony E-Reader which I previously uninstalled causing the problems. I safely deleted it from /Library/LaunchAgent and that took care of Disaster 2.
Attached a cable from the Fritzbox to the Airport and set up a wifi network and switched the laptop over to this new network - it worked perfectly! Tested the Airport Wifi for a constant 48 hours and no problems whatsoever. Then I had a look at the Fritzbox and it showed I was using firmware that was two versions old. So I updated it, switched the laptop back to the Fritzbox network and that fixed Disaster 1.
Everything is going very well so far - and Yose-might-not is now Yosemite. Friends, I'm not a tech, just a retired old lady who loves to tinker. I don't know if any of this is helpful but I'm presenting it just the same.
Cheers from Jacqueline

Oct 25, 2014 6:25 PM in response to Smiddlesby drtidmore,I have been seeing a similar problem occasionally since the original Yosemite DP beta, but with the last release candidate it really became an issue that was persistent. The specific problem related to Safari slowing, stalling, outright errors in Safari that I was NOT connected to the internet. After some testing, it seemed that the issue was potentially DNS related. In the back of my mind, this seemed all too familiar. Then I remember a bug several releases ago where DNS prefetch had a bug. At the time Apple actually posted the command line entry to disable DNS prefetch. I decided to give it a try as other solutions gave no more than a short lived reprieve. After shutting down DNS prefetch, I have not had a SINGLE instance of connectivity issues. I can't say that everyone's problem is what I encountered on my MBP, but here is the command line entry that fixed my issue. You will need to kill and restart Safari after issuing the command.
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false -
Oct 25, 2014 6:49 PM in response to Smiddlesby chotty1,Bravo, Jacqueline. Good job.
*After the booter loads the kernel, the System Launchd is the parent process of ALL other processes.
Apple will have to release *some fix by Tuesday, their usual day for releasing fixes. This is insane.
