Oct 27, 2014 5:01 AM in response to Bertibby KathrynG,Hear! Hear! And why there is such stony silence or denial of the problems from Apple I simply do not understand. So - you (Apple) messed up. OK- so now fix it! Or just let us know that a fix is on the way.

Oct 27, 2014 5:07 AM in response to tomstephens89by poppy forbes,Everybody on this thread knows their way around computers but I bought into Apple on the premise that it would be easy for computer simpletons like me to operate. It has already cost me a perfectly good printer which was up and running before I downloaded Yosemite and reluctantly threw out because I thought it was dead. It wasn't until I bought a new printer and eventually found my way onto this thread that I found out what was happening. I have a new iPad air 2 which I am reluctant to start up. I am going to leave doing so until my setup session online with Apple next week. And my first question will be when are you going to sort out this mess.
I cannot understand how the mainstream press have not got hold of this - I would hate to think it was because of all the advertising Apple are doing at the moment.....

Oct 27, 2014 5:23 AM in response to poppy forbesby KathrynG,You know I wondered that myself. The no reporting on this gargantuan issue, and no Poppy Forbes not everyone knows their way around as deeply as most seem to do. I feel to slink off into the corner when I read some of the posts, convinced that I am a total cretin, and I probably am, and which is why all I am asking for is an update, that any "cretin" can do.

Oct 27, 2014 5:58 AM in response to tomstephens89by OceanDrifter,2 hours ago, I followed the method below that has been described a few times in this thread. I was wary at first about an install from an unknown source, but I did some background research and then 'went for it':
https://sites.google.com/site/osxyosemitewififix/
Since following the above my WiFi has been stable for 120 minutes, which is astounding for me.
I have been very skeptical of all the fixes in this thread as in my experience, the WiFi is so unreliably unreliable that people may be lulled into thinking what they have just done is a fix and so post 'it's fixed' to this thread, and probably don't repost to say it "No, it was only temporary".
[I had tried all the fixes and none worked (for me)]
The WiFi issues predate Yosemite for me and are machine and router specific, although they may have just appeared (for many people) with an install of Yosemite, and so they look like a Yosemite issue. But see the following threads, the first of which refers to the fix in the link above.

Maverick Wi-Fi keeps dropping!
It would be really helpful if Apple acknowledged this and provided a work around or fix.

Oct 27, 2014 7:08 AM in response to Wintaruby gc916,As far as I know, the editors of tech sites like MacRumors.com and iMore.com have completely ignored these apparent Yosemite issues. I would expect that a thread such as this, with more than 53,000 views and 500 replies, would be indicative of problems that should be worthy of their attention.

Oct 27, 2014 7:00 AM in response to marcelokalibby OceanDrifter,I am not without my concerns
But I have now been connected for 180 minutes. My WiFi has not been this stable on this router for over 2 months.
[I can now sit where I want to rather than be dictated by the length of my ethernet cable]

Oct 27, 2014 7:06 AM in response to gc916by marcelokalib,That´s true.. But I did what I could. I sent them (macrumors.com) the tip for a submission about this problem with some urls and links for reference.
Let´s hope they write about it.. as we´re hoping Apple fix it.

Oct 27, 2014 7:17 AM in response to tomstephens89by alexmcleaniii,Oops! We had our cable guy come out to our house twice to try and find why our internet kept dropping and restarting. This all happen after upgrading to Yosemite. Since then, we have a new router and I've upgraded to the latest version using 10.10 (14A389). All is well now I think.

Oct 27, 2014 7:17 AM in response to KathrynGby skywagon,CLEAN upgrade of my Macbook 15" yesterday to OS X Yosemite.... and am now having issues when using my home WiFi connection. Ethernet is OK thank God !!
Signal from wifi 100% OK...yet cannot connect.!! Another Non-upgraded Macbook works fine on the same network.!!! What a shame for Apple !!! Give us some hope by at least acknowledging this major problem..!
People can wait .........but until when..??

Oct 27, 2014 7:43 AM in response to tomstephens89by lvillega,After a week of trying different solutions with out any luck I just magically solved the problem. I restarted my machine, which I did a few times before, but instead of going into my normal user I went into the guest user and tried connecting to WIFI which it did perfectly so I then logged-out and went to my normal user and Bingo! WIFI worked perfectly.
On another topic: How do you guys feel about Apple's new policy of staying quiete when confronted by big issues such us this WIFI problem? As far as I know WIFI is still a widely used technology and key to any laptop user.

Oct 27, 2014 7:57 AM in response to lvillegaby gc916,Ivillega,
I don't know whether it's actually "Apple's new policy," but I certainly feel that, by now, they should have issued some statement acknowledging the problems and providing some estimated release time for a fix. I find their silence to be disappointing and somewhat arrogant, and not in line with what I have experienced from them in the past.
