Nov 4, 2014 2:04 PM in response to steinerOzby bculberg,After being supremely frustrated at my Mac basically becoming useless after the "update" to Yosemite, my wifi was being dropped every 2-3 minutes, I tried the SIM reset, and voila! it worked, so far!

Nov 4, 2014 2:05 PM in response to CowboyCraigby MortenJamesCarlsen,Just to be clear. OP has an issue when preforming an upgrade using the automated tools provided to him. You then blame the OP for upgrading when they should have taken 5 minutes to review the new OS
My was response was to kz1000 not to OP.
Please read the '... in response to...". It is in the little line under the topic. That way you won't come to false conclusions.
I did not berate (I take you refer to criticism) anyone. I gave a friendly advise not to push the upgrade button, before having done 5 minutes of research.
I believe in that advice and stand behind it. As I believe in prevention over cure !

Nov 4, 2014 3:05 PM in response to steinerOzby therealikt,I did this and it worked for about an hour.
This is not something a user can fix. Apple seeded Yosemite 10.10.1 bet to developers asking for assistance on wifi issues.Clearly, they know, and knew, there was a problem, and are just launching a beta solution. Don't get your hopes up anytime soon.

Nov 4, 2014 3:12 PM in response to tomstephens89by theforumenjoyer,My 2013 MacBook air on Yosemite was only getting download speeds around around 0.5 mbps. I turned off bluetooth and it instantly went up to 22 mbps. Looks like I won't be using my keyboard/magic mouse until 10.10.1 rolls out.

Did you try running a 5GHZ Only WI-FI ?

Nov 4, 2014 4:11 PM in response to KRobe15041by therealikt,Are they using different wifi frequencies? At home I use an Airport Extreme and they switch from 2.4 to 5.0ghz. Perhaps that switch is causing it to crash. If your work is only using 2.4ghz (probably), and at home you have 5.0ghz, that could be the issue.

Nov 4, 2014 4:21 PM in response to steinerOzby kaym,Hi
I have done both of these. Both worked for one day but the next day it was back to dropping out. Have also tried turning wifi off on my iphone when using wifi on the computer to see if that helps - but I don't think so. It is definitely more unstable when also simultaneously running skype and/or a streamed music system (Sonos/Spotify) in my case.
Just my two bobs worth ...

Nov 4, 2014 6:39 PM in response to tomstephens89by Gert001,These posts confirm that my recent wifi issues are related to the Yosemite update. Since installing Yosemite my wifi connection stalls regularly. The only action that helps is switching to my other wifi network until it freezes again. It's annoying and happens a couple of times a day. Looks like Apple has realised there is a serious issue as they are focusing on this in the beta release for the next update. Maybe they should transfer some money from the marketing budget to the Q&A department?

Nov 4, 2014 11:55 PM in response to Gert001by zx9rc1,same problems with Wifi. Wasn't expecting this from Apple. How can I move back to the old OS X?

Nov 5, 2014 1:12 AM in response to tomstephens89by nzruss,I think all of your problems pale in comparison to my experience. I have just purchased 40 new Macbook Airs for my school. I have since updated them all to Yosemite (which took me ^%$##** days to do at 5gbs a pop) in order to use the airdrop functionality with our school iPads. Pretty soon after updating (not straight away) they started dropping out. If I had known about this issue I definitely wouldn't have updated. Now all of the machines are dropping in and out of WiFi connection seemingly at random making them virtually useless as classroom computers. Grrrr to you Apple for not telling anyone.
Our school is using the latest AC Ruckus WiFi managed system. We are using a mix of Apple and PC laptops. The PCs are not experiencing any drop out issues. Many of the teachers have Macbook Pros. The ones still using Mavericks are fine, although there was one instance of an unexplained drop out. I myself am using a Macbook Pro 15" i7 retina display (late 2013) Once I'd updated to Yosemite it was fine for a couple of days then it started dropping out randomly.
Strange thing is, I have also purchased a new iPhone 6plus and a colleague has bought an iPhone 6 too. We are using the new operating system and our phones have also started dropping off the school WiFi network. Are Yosemite and iOS8.1 using the same protocols or settings? Has it got something to do with the ability to airdrop to each other? I'm not an expect so I don't know the technical details, but if Yosemite and iOS8.1 are doing the same things with WiFi then I can logically assume there might be a link.

Nov 5, 2014 1:50 AM in response to nzrussby Monty72,Nzuss, I think you maybe correct about the link with IOS.
As a temporary fix try turning off bluetooth on all the Macs. Not a great solution long term but it's worked for me and it means I can still work.

Nov 5, 2014 2:50 AM in response to tomstephens89by breee85,Macbook Pro early 2013. There's no way to solve the problem. The solutions are temporary, and after a day or two the problem returns. Wifi connections continue to drop every 2 minutes making my mac useless. This is unacceptable! Deeply disappointed from Apple.

Also turn off bluetooth on the phones... Any bluetooth will/can interfere with WI-FI.

If Apple had been able to reproduce the wi-fi bugs (1=Bluetooth interference, 2=Network Resolve), in-house, they would not have released Yosemite.
You cannot warn about things you don't know exist ;-)
I feel for your situation, I do. I would be furious, myself. However, the only thing will get you up and running now, is to call Apple Care and have a chat with them.
IF they can provide you with a fix, even if temporary, it would be a good thing.
