Q: iCloud drive does not update on Yosemite

Hey I have a problem with iCloud drive on Yosemite.

I already used iCloud Drive on my Windows PC and on icloud.com. Now after i updated my MacBook Air to Yosemite the iCloud Drive Folder does not download all my files and folders i created on Windows or icloud.com. I have about 15 folders in iCloud Drive which I can access and update on iCloud on Windows and icloud.com. But on Yosemite the only folders iCloud drive downloaded are Pages and Quicktime Player. I am already waiting for about 2 hours but iCloud Drive does not download the other files from iCloud. Why? on Windows and icloud.com it works perfect but on Yosemite is doesn't. I already tried signing out and back in again on iCloud on Yosemite it but didn't help.

Any suggestions?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

yep same thing here.  if i export a pdf file from my iphone 6 to icloud drive, it doesnt show up in the finder on my mac.  but i can see it on www.icloud.com... something's wrong.  i was expecting dropbox-like behavior.  but no.

also, in the finder in yosemite, i dont see all the iclouddrive folders that are colored (pages, keynote, preview...etc) but i see them on my iphone and www.icloud.com

    any help?

Similar problem; I have just implement iCloud Drive after upgrading to Yosemite. I am now unable to get Pages documents to sync on my iPhone6. Syncing on my Mac and iCloud on the web is working fine. The problem seems to be a couple of documents I recently created and deleted. These have gone from my Mac and on the web, but still show on my phone greyed out. I cannot open them and when I hold down my finger on them I get the blue header with the duplicate and trash icons but they do not work so I cannot deleted them.

I have tried switching iCloud for Pages on my phone to no effect and even deleted Pages all together and reinstalled. Each time the two files reappeared on my phone. The icons have permanent a bar at the bottom in grey, similar to the orange-brown bar that I think indicates a file is being synced. There presence seems to blocking new and older files syncing.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, I am having the exact same problem here.  Changes made on my Yosemite machine are not updating on iCloud Drive online or iOS devices.

Yep - same problem here (all with Yosemite). On my 15" MacBook Pro RD, it seems fine, including a pictures folder that I copied over from my HD. However, on my MacPro, the folders intermittently show up and disappear - but just the "stock" folders (Pages, Numbers, Keynote), etc. The pictures folder I uploaded on my MacBook shows up at iCloud.com, but it never shows up on the MacPro. Also, if I want to download files from the iCloud website, I notice that you can only select single files, not folders (haven't tried a Zip workaround yet). Hope Apple gets this fixed soon. For now, not canceling my sync App, (SugarSync).

Same problem here. My icloud drive on Yosemite behave exactly like if it was not a cloud drive at all.

If I copy a file to it from Yosemite, it does not get uploaded to the cloud. If a file is uploaded from my Windows icloud folder, Yosemite never gets the new file.

    kind of frustrating.

My iCloud Drive has started syncing after I signed out of iCloud on Yosemite, restarted, and signed back in.  I also found a support article from Apple which recommended creating a new file in iCloud Drive.  Apparently the action of creating a new file makes the updates start up.  One or both of my actions seem to have fixed my problem, though I find the syncs are not as quick as they were in the previous iCloud storage for iWork documents.

BEFORE SIGNING OUT OF ICLOUD DRIVE BACKUP ALL DOCUMENTS.

Fun fact. iCloud drive does not keep local copies of items on your computer. If you sign out and a document is not showing on iCloud.com it will be lost unless backed up elsewhere.

other than that signing out of icloud and signing back in seems to work.

I am seeing similar things. I can sync between IOS devices and If I create a document on the mac, I can see it on the IOS device, but if I modify it on the IOS device, it does not update on the mac. I can see the update on icloud drive using safari. I just turned icloud drive off on the mac and them back on... All the documents show as public synchronization files which are not downloaded and don't show any signs of downloading. When I did the same thing on my iPad, the documents all showed up and downloaded within minutes.

I am having the same problem. My pages files don't upload to  iCloud from my iPhone five. They couldn't even help me at the Apple Genius Bar either.  I can't get at half my documents on my iPhone because they download so slowly. This problem has cost me 10 hours of my work time trying to trouble shoot. I am so disappointed that Apple released this with so many problems. I was told to wait to see if Apple fixes this. Three really caring and very bright Apple Store employees worked on this for two hours. They tried many if not all the suggestions mentioned here. They said Apple needs to fix this and that others in the store are having the same problems.  I did get my documents to at least load on my phone overnight. But they don't load back right away if I close pages (I have been waiting an hour now for the old docs to reload on the iPhone.) I can get them on my MacAir, but don't want to carry that around all day!

I had the exact same problem Patrick. Michael Cohen at Tidbits had a similar problem, only with his iPad (http://tidbits.com/article/15138). If you know your files are in iCloud when you check iCloud.com try simply turning iCloud Drive off on your Mac (System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive). It will tell you that you may lose files but just go ahead and turn it off. This will delete all the cached files on your Mac, so wait a few minutes for this to happen (you may hear some disk activity going on.)

Then just go back into System Prefs and switch iCloud Drive back on. Open up iCloud Drive from a Finder window and leave that folder open. Over the next few minutes you should see your folders reappearing (be patient). This worked for me .

Update: When I switched off iCloud Drive and then on again the drive appeared to regenerate the files, but it still used cached files from my local drive. I ended up having to switch off iCloud Drive and then clear the cached files manually. They are in the User Library (hold down the alt/option key and select Library from the Go Menu). I then opened the Caches folder and deleted everything that's in the CloudKit folder. Restarted my Mac, emptied the trash, and switched iCloud Drive back on. I can now edit iCloud Drive files on my Mac and it syncs back to iCloud. If I look in the iCloud Drive folder there is now a progress bar over the file to show that it's syncing back.
