I had logic board replaced in august 2012 and question

Is there anyway to manually enter iMac serial number as I have been unable to sign in iMessage after the board was replaced. In "about this mac", all I see is serial number unavailable.

Thanks

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Hello ozzyemale,

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

That sounds very similar to this issue.

OS X: "Cannot connect" or "Cannot connect to the App Store. An internet connection is required"

Where it says:

The system serial number is used for authentication purposes. If the serial number is not displayed in About This Mac, the Mac App Store can't authenticate its connection.

  1. Choose About This Mac the Apple menu ().
  2. Click on the version number under OS X in the window that appears. The information should change to a build number.
  3. Click on the build number under OS X. The information should change to your computer's serial number.
  4. If no serial number is displayed, contact AppleCare for further assistance.

Best Regards,

Nubz
