Jan 30, 2015 1:58 PM in response to kungfunefarby BRJP,Nothing official from Apple. A lot of people have sent back to apple technicians with mixed results. Some have had the logic board replaced and some had thier operating system rebuilt. Both with varying degrees of success. Lots of knowledgeable people on this forum are concluding its sofware, hardware or both. But nothing official. Which is frustrating for all.

Feb 1, 2015 8:29 AM in response to TLFonsecaby code937,This isn't a solution but having tested the "turn off graphic switching" in the settings i can confirm i haven't had a single crash - before that i was experiencing 1 crash a day.
My new problem is that battery life went from about 5 hours on battery to about 2 and a half plus on top of that the laptop cuts out at 20%!? That's only happened since i switched the graphic switching off.
I'm new to these forums, do Apple every get involved with answering threads or even monitoring them?

Feb 2, 2015 9:07 AM in response to TLFonsecaby Jimaroid,I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) and I'm another person suffering with this problem. Can't track it down and have tried all manner of different settings with GPU etc. There's nothing in the system log or console that indicates a problem. All that gets logged is the boot-up sequence.
This freeze+reboot issue only started when I switched to the first Yosemite Developer Preview, since then the issue seemed to occur less often and when 10.10 was released to public the issue was occuring about once a week. I could live with it that infrequently however... I've switched to the latest Yosemite Developer Preview last week and the issue is now happening again at least twice a day.
More often than not it seems to occur with Safari open and some sort of Flash or dynamic html content being rendered. I've tried using gfxCardStatus to lock between integrated and discrete GPU and it's not avoided the issue. It's infuriating and I'm really disappointed that there appears to be no clear resolution on this too.

Feb 2, 2015 10:50 AM in response to Jimaroidby GetBobT1,I've got a mac pro and this happens. I have no switching. Could it be my graphics card is going or being overwhelmed? It's a 512 radeon 4870. It passing hardware tests, but maybe the problem is intermittent.

Feb 2, 2015 11:16 AM in response to Jimaroidby fewi18,I have absolutelly the same issue (Macbook Pro Mid 2012, Yosemite 10.10.2). The system freezes about once a week. The system then reboots automatically after a few seconds. This happens mostly when scrolling through a website using Safari.
Would be good if there is a solution.

Feb 2, 2015 11:01 PM in response to TLFonsecaby homever,I had 2012 mid non-R mbp.
Latest 10.10.2 was installed.
About 1 month ago, while playing movie file using Movist, my system hang there and reboot without any waring. Like most cases here, there's no trace file in the console or log. I have no idea what happens. And to me, it only happens while using moist playing movies. Not sure anyone has the same circumstances with me?

Feb 3, 2015 12:04 AM in response to BRJPby edoardopa,The same problem with a Macbook pro mid 2014 bought a month ago (disabling the swith all is working).
I can experience the issue using javafx of swing library in java.
Spent many time with phone/mail assistence with no result. The only solution for apple assitence is to reinstall the whole system from scratch with no further explanation. And install one application at a time. The problem for me is that the bus is not easily reproducible. I am working on a test-case.
A week ago I went to an apple store, they changed my motherboard (assuring that the old one is damaged and the new is ok) but nothing is changed, randomly (not all the times) when i launch a java application that uses javafx or swing (requires graphic card switch) the system hangs.
I am waithing for an external disk to do some further testing. Very disappointed from apple assistence.

Feb 5, 2015 8:06 AM in response to TLFonsecaby Costes08,Hi, just wanted to bump this thread, since I experience the same problem on my MB PRO Retina mid 2012. For such expensive machines, a solution for a problem like this should be found IMMEDIATELY.

Feb 5, 2015 8:13 AM in response to edoardopaby edoardopa,I can reproduce the defect with a minimum system.
I few word: on my system to reproduce the problem I need to start 2 programs ina desktop (Firefox and thunderbird) and the launch a java application on a separate desktop few times.
As requested from Apple I did a fresh install of the system (on a 16GB usb key).
java8+firefox+thunderbird: after 20 tests all seems ok
install Wacom driver (bamboo 5.3.6-6)
java8+firefox+thunderbird: after 2 tests i can reproduce the problem.

Feb 5, 2015 8:16 AM in response to edoardopaby Jimaroid,Interesting. I have previously installed, and subsequently removed, Wacom drivers on my MBPmid2012. I still experience the problem despite removing them, however, it might be something to investigate further.

Feb 5, 2015 8:17 AM in response to edoardopaby dem107,I've been working with Apple support and they suggested I remove
Cisco VPN software
Logitech headset software
Citrix software
I removed all of these and deleted all associated files.
I still have the same problem.

Feb 5, 2015 8:20 AM in response to Jimaroidby edoardopa, just sent an email to Apple support. If they ask to me I can send to them a disk image for test purpose.

Feb 5, 2015 8:23 AM in response to dem107by mostruash,Guys it has nothing to do with Wacom drivers or any 3rd party software/driver. Try harder and you will reproduce it.
-
Feb 5, 2015 8:33 AM in response to mostruashby edoardopa,Maybe that you are right, I know that is possible that this is a coincidence but:
1- my personal (and obviously very very partial) tests:
before driver install: after 20 tests the system never locks
after driver install: locks at try 5 - force reboot - locks at try 2
2- and more importatnt: Apple require a fresh Yosemite install to help me (ad for this reason now I am waiting for a response from assistence).
In my personal situation the problem not arises every time that i switch from intel to nvidia. The only way that I find to reproduce the problem got a probability of around 20%.
