Have you ever had this issue before installing Yosemite? If not, wait the next OS update and use only the NVIDIA GT 650 M video card!

Apr 4, 2015 9:45 AM in response to venkatesh6by Dlit12180,My MacBook is stable for now. Here is my story:
- I have a mid-2012 retina;
- Not sure when I upgraded to Yosemite but before Yosemite I never had graphics issues, and even after being on Yosemite for some time, I had no graphics issues;
- However, at some point, I started seeing garbled "static" on my screen similar to an analog television with no signal. This would take up the whole screen for several seconds, only upon waking. I was worried but since the performance was fine, I let it slide;
- Soon thereafter, my computer would freeze, usually while web-browsing with multiple tabs. I could not move my mouse. After 5-10 seconds, the computer would restart itself;
- This started to occur with increased frequency;
- I noticed the graphics issue replacement recall program was expanded to mid-2012 retinas, so I brought it to a genius;
- My computer froze when the genius started to run his tests, so they took the computer in and changed the logic board;
- Got my computer back and within 2 days the problem recurred exactly as before;
- Called Apple Support, who told me to go back to the store;
- Saw another genius who told me my crash logs showed problems with Safari and reinstalled a fresh OS X;
- Problem recurred;
- Read this thread and decided to install 10.10.3 early this week;
- Since then, garbled static recurred, but not freezing/restarting.
- Hoping this continues but I am cautiously optimistic that at least for some people, this is a software issue that 10.10.3 fixes.

When I took my machine into the Apple Store they did a hardware test called VTS, which froze the computer, resulting in a failure. When I took it back the second time, it passed the test. Right now I don't have any errors on the hardware test you're asking about.
-
Apr 4, 2015 10:43 AM in response to Dlit12180by venkatesh6,not VTS its VST ... they even runed that test to my machine like 5 to 6 times and it was passed all the time but the error shows me only during the hardware test of pressing D when restsrting did u do that do ur machine ? and see what happened. but then after the results passed i argued with the fellow so called genius and got the replacement approved they have ordered the spare and waiting for it . but now I'm confused with the reading as it didn't help people on the hardware change .

15-inch Retina MBP Late 2013. New (replacement) logic board. 10.10.3 beta (14D130a).
Crashes when connected with dual Thunderbolt displays in clam shell mode. Almost never crashes when used by itself. I am a software engineer and I need the extra screen real estate. This morning, while browsing web pages, it has crashed 6 times already.
Sigh.

Apr 8, 2015 10:18 AM in response to Dlit12180by STRML,So far so good with 10.10.3, I could usually get a crash by switching graphics adapters quickly using gfx.io, so far I haven't been able to do it.
Additionally I am seeing fewer switches to the Nvidia GPU, which helps. Previously any webcam usage would turn it on, but it appears to be able to stick on integrated now. Fewer switches means fewer potential for crashing, so I'm happy.
By the way, does anyone know if there's anywhere to get a more detailed changelog for OS X point released? The official 10.10.3 log doesn't say much about anything other than Photos, emoji, and wifi.

Apr 8, 2015 3:57 PM in response to corporate_gadflyby Blckcat,(Sigh).
I have 2012 retina Macbook pro with custom order 2.7 i7, 16gb memory, 256 ssd configuration and got logicboard AND heatsink replaced as well as updated this morning to the 10.10.3 but just after 3 hour of use it froze and I almost lost my Word work....
I was using Safari and MS Word simultaneously by changing windows using mission control gesture and it suddenly froze.
Im afraid of doing any critical work on this Macbook now...

Apr 8, 2015 4:16 PM in response to Blckcatby JWDemon,I have the same custom order model except I have the 768GB SSD, I'm still on the 10.10.3 beta, I have not downloaded this mornings update yet. Mine has been running great, no problems at all. You should make an appointment at an Apple Store and let them check it out again.
