Q: No iCloud Drive iOS 8 app?

Is there really no iOS 8 iCloud Drive app? I thought you were able to store any type of file and access it from any device. How do you access your files on an iOS device?

Thanks!

    Hello there George Cassello,

If I understand correctly you are looking to access files you have stored in iCloud Drive on your iPhone. You can access your iCloud drive documents from within applications that support iCloud drive. Here is some more information about it from the following article:

    iCloud Drive FAQ

How do I access all my files in iCloud Drive?

You can access your files in iCloud Drive any of these ways:

    •  Using any supported web browser, you can go to iCloud Drive or iWork for iCloud beta at iCloud.com. In iWork for iCloud beta, you can find your Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files.
    • On your Mac with OS X Yosemite, you can go to iCloud Drive in Finder.
    • On your PC with Windows 7 or later and iCloud for Windows 4.0, you can go to iCloud Drive in File Explorer.
    • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8, you can access your files from Apple apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, or any apps that support iCloud Drive.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the best,

    Sterling

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate you reaching out. I'm aware of the options you have listed. I guess that apple is just allowing lwas options within iOS. Within Yosemite, as I'm sure you know, iCloud drive is set up within the finder (finally). Yoh can put any type of file in there which is great. And that definitely they say they sold it. But you ceryainky cannot access then on an iOS device unless, as you stated, the files have to be of an app on your phone. Which does make sense. I don't exoect and InDesign file to open in my iPhone. But why not be able to dump pdfs, jpgs, photos. And be able to access them. Save to your camera roll, email files even if they are not editable on an iOS device. Things like that that Phone can handle. Like say, dropbox. That been around and able to do those things for numerous years now. Apoles cloud capabilities are so far behind and they just seemed to have called short again here. That's my rant. Lol.

    Thanks again for reaching out
