Hello!! I want to Update my Macbook Pro OS X to Yosemite, I am using Mavericks. I am also using Windows 7 on it by BootCamp. If I Update It's OS X Software Will It Harm my Windows or make any sort of Impact on my Windows or Its Files???

Yes man dont do it now, Im also screwed now after upgrade to Yosemite my bootcamp Win 7 stop working ....getting error --> unknown monitor / dev/ vmmon not found etc......
Note that Yosemite may change your disk to Core Storage, with the File Vault option checked. This can be unchecked during installation. However, Core Storage limits you to two partitions. Also, Bootcamp needs to be set up by using the Bootcamp Assistant, after installing the main operating system. You need to backup both your Windows system and Mavericks to external disks, before installing Yosemite.
Ok Yosemite already upgraded, and on bootcamp following error message showing
Could not open /dev /vmmon: no such file or directory
Failed to initiate monitor device
Could not find a valid peer process to connect to
etc... logs
any idea how I can recover my bootcamp Win7, ( Win 7 booting fine directly with out mac when I change startup disk to win partition in system preferance )
Are you installing Yosemite on a new partition? It will affect the bootcamp partition but not if you upgrade the existing OSX partition from what I've read.
Also, I remember reading that when folks upgraded to Mavericks, it wiped out their bootcamp/windows partition if the new OSX needed more disk space than was currently allotted by the users partition size. So I'm wondering if upgrades to Yosemite on too small a partition will create the same problem.
My bootcamp partition is working totally fine after doing the yosemite upgrade. Just don't do the clean install and you should be fine. Enjoy!
Interesting. So that might be the ticket. Maybe it's only a problem for folks creating another partition for install of the OS. Did you do this on an iMac, MBP? I had no issue on my iMac but then, I have no other partition for windows on it.
Confirmed. Just upgrading the OS X isn't going to do any harm to the Windows partition. Everything works, just upgraded 🙂
Windows Boot is delayed by 30 seconds after Yosemite upgrade on my system (Macbook pro Retina...). There are several other peoples having issues.
