Printing on Yosemite is anyone haveing problems?

II've done the install of Yosemit, but I'm now unable to print on either of my printers, all the software for the printers are uptodate, just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how did you rectify it?

many thanks

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

I am running an older Epson Stylus Photo R2400, but drivers are still listed for it. I tried reinstalling the printer, and version 2.19 replaced 2.18 at restart, but no change occurred for my problem.

My problem is printing from Photoshop CS6 - when I go to the print command, on the front screen I can set the control to "Let Photoshop control the printer" and choose a paper profile but when I go the next screen for Print Settings I can set the paper type, but the boxes for Color and Colour Settings are dimmed. This means I cannot choose BW instead of color, and cannot confirm the command to let Photoshop control the printer. If I try to print anyway, it goes to Hi speed and awful colours, obviously not Photoshop controlled.

I am also having problems printing since upgrading to Yosemites. We have a Xerox 7760, a Canon MG6530 and a Samsung ML6515. We have no issues printing to the Canon or Samsung, however since updating to Yosemites it now takes an average of 4 minutes for the file to reach the printer. They are all connected via Ethernet and from sending the file to print it takes about 4 mins for the Xerox to indicate it has received the file. We have installed new printer drivers etc but all to no avail. Any suggestions?

for CANON MG5460.

i went to print and scan preferences.

deleted the printer

deleted relevant files from /Library/Printers

downloaded latest drivers and applications from canon.

installed

STILL NO GO

User uploaded file

still "unable to locate printer". but scanning seemed to work, weird. so it was seeing the printer or at least part of it, i could check ink levels etc. all seemed to be going ok, except that actual PRINTING that i wanted.

until i changed this

once i changed those settings, it started working again.

hope that helps someone.

Wow since Yosemite no one in the world can print, are they all fools at mac? Steve is gone and all is wrong., We are the lab rats testing this stuff for them, al least pay us for sitting around all day frustratingly scratching our heads.

I too have the same problem., I can print a test page, I can clean my printer heads, but I cant print., Ive tried everything. Nothing works., no sandbox, new drivers, reinstalling software. Nothing!!!!!User uploaded file

Epsom XP-400 owner. I've been struggling with numerous issues since Yosemite upgrade and this is another irritating one. I also can't get the printer to AirPrint. Or rather I can, but only for a short amount of time. I never had this inconsistency with the printer before and thought it was in need of a replacement. But looking at the gamut of printers listed here, replacing may not fix a thing. I've tried everything and despite the latest drivers being installed, Nothing will work consistently. I must wake up the printer, Mac and restart the printer to maybe get it to work. Very frustrating.

Having been having problems printing to the Xerox 7760 we realised that the main problem was printing from Filemaker Pro. Some programs seemed to print OK but Filemaker and Preview especially took ages. Someone at Filemaker directed me to the Xerox Forums, and there was a link to a Beta driver that works with Yosemites. Unfortunately the Beta driver is not perfect, there is no choice for different paper thicknesses etc, so I have set up 2 drivers for the Xerox, 1 to use with paper in Filemaker and the original driver for other programs. It's a temporary fix till a new driver is issued but at least we can now print quickly again.

Here is the link in case anyone else is having same issue, probably other Xerox printers will be available here too:

Everyone is having trouble with Yosemite, and not just with Printers, Apple used to be quick, simple and accurate, now it is slow, clumsy and dirty. Apple has lost the plot. They should concentrate on what the user wants, and not on what they want you to do. And stop sending out "Shovelware" for "Support" groups to correct their mistakes.

Getting to the top is hard in any field, staying there is more difficult. As Blackberry and others found, it is a slippery slope down

Add me to the list who continue to have printing problems. I had originally reinstalled new drivers on my laptop and my Imac that is sharing the printer directly from the Brother website, listed as being the new driver for Yosemite. I thought that solved my problem as I was temporarily able to print for a bit. Then it all went south again. I find that if I check and uncheck sharing on the Imac it resolves the problem for a while, but then I can no longer print from the laptop. I also find that something I printed hours ago will all of a sudden pop out of the printer about 12 hours later. My Imac was also much slower with many spinning beachballs. I did a lot of things, but eventually found that the interaction between Safari and Flash Player was grinding my machine to a halt. I have gone to using Chrome and things are much much better. Sad to ditch Safari after all of these years, but that is all that seemed to resolve the problem. Everyone keeps saying that I need to install more RAM and that 4GB is not enough for Yosemite. Funny, but it seemed to work for all this time up until the Yosemite install, and now all of a sudden it is not good enough. Apple has really taken a nose dive on their software abilities, and it is starting to infect even their operating systems. C'mon Apple get your stuff together and get a Yosemite update out that will fix these problems with Wifi, printing, and general slowness.

I just wanted to notify anyone who also has the Samsung M2875FW printer, that Samsung finally has released a new driver for this printer which resolves the Yosemite printing problems. Works for me now even in "sandboxing strict" which is the default, I just had to reinstall the printer first so that the new driver was picked up.

I hope that this is the last of printer related problems in OSX for the next few years.
