Working Wacom Drivers for Yosemite?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to Mavericks and now it happens again with Yosemite. My old Wacom tablets no longer work. With Mavericks, only one of the legacy drivers would work. Some version in the middle (not the latest). With Yosemite, I can't get anything to work. Either it won't load the preference pane after install or it doesn't see anything connected.

I have two Wacom Tablets:

  • Intuos 2 XD-0608-U
  • Intuos GD-0608-U

Has anyone had any luck with getting an old Wacom to work? As before, Wacom doesn't seem interested in updating their drivers for legacy users. It's a shame because the equipment itself still works great. Any 3rd party alternative drivers out there?

I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe if we put our brains together on this thread, we can find a solution.

Maybe this will help someone with an Intuos2 with a new Imac 5k.

I have an intuos2 that was working on a macbook pro 10.8 with a dual screen, the only options I wanted to set up were the mapping (since the dual screen is very wide and the intuos2 4/3 I need to use a more panoramic area on the tablet) and the pen clicks, I use 3D software and setting a "middle mouse" click is mandatory.

I installed the latest drivers, tablet not supported, I uninstalled, and reinstalled the legacy drivers 6.2.0w4. Tablet worked but with default settings. The preference pane doesn't open.

I exported my previous settings from my laptop and imported them, it's all working now like before. The mapping is ok and the pen clicks too. On the 5k screen without any trouble.

I was afraid the mapping or else would not translate well, it did. I read all the post here and was very concerned about having to buy a new pen tablet. On a side note, now the preference pen DOES OPEN, I drop down menus don't show any options they say "empty", but the pressure indicator, work. SO it's obvious there is absolutely no technology issue or real OS issues, Wacom want us to poor a bit more money in their business while our hardware is still perfectly working and I'm sure 100% compatible. SHAME ON THEM. Of course they have no real competitors, they won't care too much... about our complains...

Hey Everyone,

I'm on the intuos 5 and couldn't get the drivers to work. Here's what finally solved the issue.

Go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor to see if there is any process running named TabletDriver or WacomTabletDriver.

If there's nothing running, proceed with the workaround

If there are drivers running, stop them.

Close out of Activity Monitor and go to MacintoshHD (or the name of your harddisk) > Library > Application Support > Tablet

From in there, there may be a Wacomtabletdriver folder containing a Wacomtabletdriver file This folder should not be present in the current driver. Insetad, the 'Tablet' folder should contain the 'Wacomtabletdriver' file itself!

Move the Wacomtabletdriver file outside of that folder and onto the parent 'Tablet' folder

Delete the Wacomtabletdriver folder and double click the Wacomtabletdriver file to start the driver

Go back to System Preferences > Wacom Tablet & check if the "Problem with tablet driver" error has disappeared. Close the Preferences pane.

Plugged in the tablet, opened preferences again and then re-configured my tablet.

The following may have been suggested previously. If so I apologize for repeating it.

After trying a variety of methods for getting the latest Intuos touch driver for Yosemite to work, I have found the following short procedure to be successful.

1. Using the Wacom Tablet Utility backup your preferences, if necessary, and then remove the existing tablet software.

2. Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support and find the folder Tablet.

3. Delete the Tablet folder (including everything in it) Installing new software does not overide or replace the existing "WacomTabletDriver" file within the folder. That seems to be the root of the problem.

4. Install the newest driver.

5. Open the Wacom preference pane. (I don't believe that a Restart is required.)

Voilà

At this point according to a Wacom video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_j10xhIi5c , you should be able to restore your preferences readily. Why Techman Joe, the narrator on the video, didn't know to throw away the Tablet folder - or at least its contents - is a mystery.
