Q: How to get widgets in OS X notification center?

I just downloaded Yosemite and am trying to set up my notification center. When I click the Edit button in the Today view, the only item available is Social. Where are all the widgets that are supposed to come preinstalled with Yosemite?

That's how it looked in PB6 but after upgrade to Final Version only Social is in there and it won't even work. There is a bug somewhere I wish Apple would fix quickly...

Can somebody with the Official public launch release on Yosemite check their Extensions-All pane and post... Im wondering if im leading mniels astray? Do the rest of you have a Today tab ticked in list?

I am assuming the Share Menu and Today items were consolidated into the menu items listed on the left. The public release version for All only has third party extensions now.

That is interesting. This is the user preferences folder not the system preferences folder. It should have been updated/created with the new system and/or when you first logged in.

I am experimenting on a second machine now, seeing if a reinstall will work.

I reinstalled and, in my case, the missing extension is now active. The Preferences>Extensions>All pane is empty and limited to third party extensions, as per description. I did notice during the initial install of 10.10 on that machine there was a hangup during download. It took an additional 45-60 minutes compared to other machines being upgraded. There might have been a glitch during that period on 10/16. Download is quick presently and the re-install was very quick.

Someone on another forum posted a solution for most of the widgets...

    Went into Macintosh HD ▸ System ▸ Library ▸ Frameworks ▸ NotificationCenter.framework ▸ PlugIns

here you can find the widgets you have installed in you mac, what I did was change the name of weather into com.apple.ncpluggin.Weather.appex ; and stocks into com.apple.ncpluggin.Stocks.appex , I'm not sure if this was necessary, though.

Then I just double clicked in each one, it will open with widget simulator app, press the green button and voila, they now appear in my notification center.

Try opening widget simulator manually, located in: Macintosh HD ▸ System ▸ Library ▸ Frameworks ▸ NotificationCenter.framework ▸ Versions ▸ A ▸ Resources

Then just drag the widgets into the widget simulator on your dock and they will appear. It does work, only widgets not found are Calendar and the Social widget is still not working... If we can find fixes for those 2 widgets everything will work perfectly.

I reinstalled 3 times and none of that fixed it, but this new solution fixes all but two widgets, if only we can find where the Calendar and Social widgets are stored and try to run them through the simulator. The simulator seems to fix this problem.

    Calendar widget now fixed also.

Macintosh HD ▸ Applications ▸ Calendar , right click, show package contents go to Contents ▸ PlugIns and there is the widget open it with widget simulator again and done

All that needs found is Social widget now...

If you go into the Reminders app the same way as the Calendar, there is another app. They are still searching for the Social Widget.

If you run Notification Plugins from Framework folder in Notification Simulator everything will work except Social. I also have problem in Safari, when I click share button I get "No Services"(but I have at least 2 email account and FB)

I found the Social widgets under Social.framework but they will not run in the simulator, it says they are not found. So I'm thinking it's a whole other issue why Safari is saying no services under the share button (I have the same issue) and why the Social widget is not working.

If you select More… at the bottom of the Safari Share widget it takes you to System Preferences>Extensions>Share Menu Put a blue tick next to everything you want to use and make sure you also have signed into your accounts at System Preferences>Internet Accounts Again, I think the Share Menu settings have something to do with what shows up in the Notification Center. I found it takes a minute or so for all the networks to show up in the Notification Center. It did not happen immediately.

It's blank, I can let it sit there for an hour and it's still blank. Also markup is missing from the extensions menu. There is some sort of bug that caused it to be missing, hopefully Apple can fix it soon. We found all the widgets even the Social ones, but the Social ones won't work because something is not found.
