Q: remote desktop 3.72 updater in App Store

I just updated to Yosemite and the App Store is showing an update for Apple Remote Desktop (administrator) 3.72. That's the version I'm already running. Clicking on update brings up a message saying it's already installed. I bought this software before the App Store and it's been updated regularly but now I can't get rid of the update entry in the App Store. (I know, sounds confusing.) I tried dragging the application to the Trash and reinstalling but it remembers all the other installed files and won't let me update it. I dragged the application back from the trash and at least it runs. Has anyone seen this since upgrading to Yosemite? Is there a way to use my current serial number with an App Store version? Thanks.

Related, by slightly off topic. I was getting the update/unable to update cycle. An ARD delete/reinstall/ restart solved the problem.

But has anyone else had this problem. I have always used share my screen with my students. (best feature ever) After I updated to Yosemite I can do every ARD function except share my screen. I finally realized I can still share my screen with clients who are at 3.7.1 (non-Yosemite) but I can't share my screen with any clients using ARD version 3.8, which is my entire class.

Can anybody repeat this. Can it be fixed or can I downgrade my Yosemite computers to ARD client 3.7.1 and get back my screen sharing.

@jstub I tried uninstalling per Apple instructions, then reinstalling and it didn't work for me. I did a clean install on a new disk and don't have the problem so there's something I missed on the old system, which is tough to find.

As for your other observation, I'll see if I can replicate the configuration and do some testing. It would be nice if Apple updated the ARD admin application, which might be what's causing your problem.

The 10.10.1 update just released gets rid of the software update problem. I'd like to thank Apple for fixing this problem so quickly, especially since it was probably considered a very minor one.
