Nov 3, 2014 8:05 AM in response to Takohashiby guitarphil11,Is there any indication or reassurance from Apple that they intend to actually address this issue? Its baffling to even think that they would not test on systems that are not retinas or somehow do this so people would need to drop almost 3k on a new 5k iMac system. How many millions of systems are out there, including employees of Apple running on the same hardware that we are running. My eyes have been bothering me like crazy since this issue came up. I'm considering not even using this iMac anymore for work since it causes so much strain. Its laughable that this inferior font/graphics setup would be forced on us without the ability in settings or something to have it useable.

Nov 3, 2014 8:16 AM in response to guitarphil11by crystalship,I'm also wondering how long before Apple addresses the blurry font issue in Yosemite. There has been ZERO news from Apple. When does the next update come out? What's the timeframe? Who knows?........and yes, I sent feedback to Apple a few times now, but I don't think anyone reads it or maybe, they ignore it.

Nov 3, 2014 8:32 AM in response to guitarphil11by MortenJamesCarlsen,I understand your frustration. I do. And the following is not meant as rude...
If anyone finds a bug... report it to Apple in a clear cut repro case.
The more clear and concise the report the better the chances of Apple being able to repro in-house.
And the faster they can repro, the faster a bug fix will occur.
If they need further information, they will get back to you.
You can report @
Apple Feedback
and
I can understand that venting is a necessity. And we all do it when we get frustrated.
But the ONLY thing that will make sure that a bug is squashed and our lives get better is to report bugs after we are certain that they qualify as bugs ;-)
Standard Bug Report Expample

Nov 3, 2014 9:26 AM in response to MortenJamesCarlsenby itzalak2,Unfortunately I think the reputation of Apple is going down the hill every day. How can a company launch an OS with these so basic errors and after so many time why didnt solve them? Unexplainable. And although it is a very simple error, it makes a complete imac unusable due to the headtaches suffered after som hours working on it. And I need it to work.
I have an iPad retina that for more than a year has problems with constant safari crashes and what happens after so expected Ios8? Still crashes but now, Safari doesn't close, only shows a white window derailing that there was a problem and the web page is going to load again. My God! After more than a year and the super ios8 there is still the same problem but covered with an stupid message?
bye bye Apple.

Nov 3, 2014 9:29 AM in response to MortenJamesCarlsenby Theatermax,Guys
I am done. I spent the last two weeks trying to make my brand new retIna imac look decent for text and perform like my iMac I have been using for the last year.
I have spent hours with apple engineers and hours in the store and the bottom line is the retIna imac screen although the reviewere think its the greatest thing ever is not great for text heavy users. It's blurry yet crisp well how can that be ? It is .. The whiyes are off and crisp razor sharp text when small doesn't help at normal viewing distances.
I Am returning it today and saying goodbye to imac for a while.
Ive decided to buy a Mac pro and a Thunderbolt Display which costs a whole lot more and of course isn't retina but allows me to change things as things progress. If I want to play with a 4k monitor I can or 3 of them if I want. A little more desk clutter but at the end of the day the sealed architecture of the iMac and inability to change or remove the drive is not good for me. I want to know I can change things as needed. I've loved my iMacs for years but the retina for me is a disaster.
Funny I have the retina new Mac Pro 13 and the screen is awesome. I guess what we learned here is retina means nothing ..
By the way, the retina iMacs also have a horrible screen lag when resizing and moving screens around to multiple monitors. I never had this with prior iMacs. I think the gpu is so busy keeping up with scaled pixels it can't do normal functions..

Nov 3, 2014 9:37 AM in response to Theatermaxby guitarphil11,Thearter, I too bought the new retina iMac last week and had a similar experience. I returned it yesterday. I think even though you are planning on getting a mac pro with a screen will not change things, since it is the OS. My Cinema display has the same issues.

Nov 3, 2014 11:02 AM in response to Theatermaxby sadproz,Theatermax, did you get the M290X (default) or M295X (upgraded) GPU? A lot of forum posters have been saying they experience no lag, so results may vary.
I think theres a combination of Yosemite bug and you being an early-adopter of an Apple product, that has resulted in your negative experience, which I think is completely valid. It's frustrating.

Nov 4, 2014 5:21 AM in response to Theatermaxby crystalship,Apple seeded 10.10.1 yesterday.

Let's hope big time that Apple fixes the blurry font issue.
I thought further if Apple staff review discussion forums and have come to the conclusion that they must. It's mandatory good business practice to know what your customers are saying about your products.

Nov 4, 2014 6:22 AM in response to crystalshipby crystalship,A brilliant user named Mr. Schreiberstein at MacRumors Forum has created a script to change the system wide font to Lucinda Grande. Here is the link:

Also, if anyone wants to fix their dock after increasing contrast which results in a ghastly looking dock, OS X Daily has a fix for that:

Nov 7, 2014 2:14 AM in response to MortenJamesCarlsenby crystalship,I can't access Apple's Bug Report to do one. I don't have developers status. I've sent in Feedback to Apple a couple of times now and I wouldn't mind doing a Bug Report with a screenshot.

Nov 17, 2014 8:35 AM in response to crystalshipby Bentleyrxy,I just installed Yosemite last night, and am seeing the same problems on my 27" imac (non-retina) display. It was always kind of hard to read the fonts, but it is now incredibly worse and unusable....
-
Nov 17, 2014 8:43 AM in response to Bentleyrxyby devptdesigner,Yes, apparently we have to live with that because new seed from (14B23) doesn't solve our problem as well.
Must be a way to people upgrade their machines because they know this problem very well.
Shame on Apple losing credits like this.

Nov 17, 2014 8:45 AM in response to devptdesignerby devptdesigner,And not a single Comment from some forum manager here.
This is an official apple forum, so must be supervised and if it is, thats worse because they just ignore.

Nov 17, 2014 9:10 AM in response to Philippe Mionby Mitya_Markin,On my iMac 27 is the same problem. Day of work and your eyes get tired noticeably stronger. I started wearing glasses. Apple, please fix this problem! This is very important.

Nov 17, 2014 10:02 AM in response to Philippe Mionby eklein08,I had this problem with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs. Upgrades to the apps did the trick. Not having this problem for system display, however. Sorry if this is unhelpful!
