Java for OS X 2014-001

Unfortunately that's the same link that people posted back in 2014.  There's three links, two for "more information" (security details and update details) and then one pointing to the Oracle web site.  I've downloaded updates from the Oracle web site more times than I can count, and I still get the message at startup.

Huh.  There's no download button for me in either Firefox or Safari.  The direct link to the dmg works for me, though.

Just removing the offending startup item (as described by Zeusal on page 4) seems to have worked for me without installing anything, though.

This worked for me too. Thanks!! It was extremely!! annoying because the message popped up every few seconds with a warning sound and if I didn't hit "OK" it would stop my work. No typing e-mail or MS Word. When I clicked "more information" it took me a web site where I downloaded the Java app and installed it and restarted my computer but even then the message still kept popping up. When I went to the web site you suggested sand installed it from there and restarted my computer now everything is fine. Again - Thanks!! Thank God for user groups and forums.

Thanks, Zeusal. I've tried just about every other suggestion on this thread to no avail. After carefully following and typing the commands you listed, the popup has not returned.

Which easy fix, please?  There's so much going on in this thread now that I don't know who is replying about what.  What worked for you?

Agreed. Do not use Terminal, it is completely unnecessary.

1) Right-click Finder

2) Select 'Go To Folder'

3) Type in the search window " ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ "

4) If available, right-click the file " com.facebook.videochat.USERNAME.plist "

5) Select " Move to Trash "

6) Empty Trash

7) Restart Mac. Message should no longer be popping up.

It worked perfectly for me!

I have done all of this.  Repeatedly.  And then it runs the verification to determine if I'm running the correct and most up-to-date version.  It says I am.  Moments later, the **** message pops up again.  I really wish I never updated to Yosemite... except I needed it to acquire a particular application.  I'm angry.  I have looked at all the Java configuration through the System Preferences, I have done everything discussed in this thread.  How do I make the **** message stop appearing.

As an important note, the message pops up even when I don't have my browser open.  Like when I'm using Microsoft Word.  Or when I'm doing nothing and I have closed everything and am just looking at my desktop.  W.T.F?!
