I upgraded my 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac to Yosemite yesterday. All went well and it's running fine except that it will not see drives connected via a Belkin powered USB hub. The drives show up fine if directly connected but via the hub. Any one know why? Will I have to buy new powered hubs?

Ive got the same issue, hopefully if enough people have the issue then something will be done about it .
I have a Anker powered USB hub so its not just your device thats at issue.
Try resetting the SMC and PRAM, you may need to do each reset 2-3 times. If that does not work try another USB cable and/or port between the computer and the hub.

I have a late 2013 27" 3.2QC upgraded to Yosemite after which I ran permissions repair in disk utility.
I have my Bilkin F5U304 High Speed USB 2.0 self powered hub and it works fine when I plug my 1TB My Book 2.0 external drive and SanDisk 4GB thumb drive.
I too am having this same issue with a Belkin 7 port powered USB 2.0 hub on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro and it's driving me crazy. Everything works fine without the powered hub, but nothing is seen by the computer at all when it's plugged into the hub. Tried multiple SMC and PRAM resets as well as permissions repairs with no luck. I really hope a fix is issued for this quickly.
Same here with a Plugable USB powered hub. My Ipod keeps disconnecting every few minutes.
Have done so. Still not seeing any drives connected thru hub.
Update. I have a USB 2.0 powered hub from Staples that is working so apparently, it's hub specific. Firmware?
Try restarting your SMC. This seems to have worked for me.
SMC reset has not changed anything, I'm wondering if its the chip set on our non working hubs that is the issue.
Try SXVirtual link by Silex. New mac mini, yosemite. Loaded printer driver. Then got virtual link. Hard re-set. It all works. Not as well as on my older computers -- there's an extra step, but it works!!!!

Ok , at last , at last.
Ok unplugged everything , power input Usb cable all other cables .
Plugged in the power and the input cable , still nothing .
I then took the input cable from the back of the mac and plugged it into the keyboard , success.
I put it all back and now its working , bizarre.
I am having the exact same problem with the Belkin hub you are referring to in Yosemite. I tried all the troubleshooting referred to in this thread and nothing helped. I have a mid 2010 iMac. I am willing to buy a new 2.0 USB hub if there is one out there that is known to work. Anyone have suggestions?
Having the same issue with a Cirago. Was working fine for a week, now USB thumb drives work just fine, its the powered ones that do not. Have yet to try the SMC
