Bluetooth audio lag

Just updated (17th.Oct.2014) to OS X Yosemite. Im having trouble with bluetooth connection. There is an audio lag on my bluetooth headphone which progressively gets worse. Im using Sony DR-BTN 200. Is there a temporary solution until they fix it?

P.S. I found others with similar issues as well. Ive tried re-pairing the connection to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

The storage of the Bluetooth audio values have been changed in Mavericks / Yosemite the defaults are now with a process called “Bluetoothaudiod”, you can change the defaults by using the following example:

Sudo defaults write bluetoothaudiod "Apple Bitpool Min" 50

Please see below all the parameters I have changed, to read the defaults please enter the following command in terminal:

sudo defaults read bluetoothaudiod

enter your password:

MacBook-Pro:~ Ciaran$ sudo defaults read bluetoothaudiod

{

"AAC Bitrate" = 320;

"AAC CBR" = 1;

"Apple Bitpool Max" = 64;

"Apple Bitpool Min" = 50;

"Apple Initial Bitpool" = 50;

"Disable AAC codec" = 0;

"Disable AptX codec" = 0;

"Disable HFP" = 0;

"Enable AptX codec" = 1;

These setting work well with my Bose Soundink OE headphones, please be careful entering the values as they are case sensitive, I really hope this helps some of you out there.

Cheers.

Updated to 10.10.1, audio still lagging. Tried re-pairing my headset but the issue persists. Tried clearing SMC and PRAM, no results.

In the bug report I submitted to Apple, after I provided some BluetoothReport diagnostics they requested, I was told that my report was a duplicate of another issue, so apparently they truly are aware of the problem.

thanks, this decision took over a month to make and, in the end, after accepting that I had an adequate "picture" of the hard drive (having used Time Machine with my external hd) I decided to wipe the drive and the system. Wasn't easy but it was a question of dealing with problems every day or taking the chance it would work.

i restarted while pressing cmd r: the computer shifts into the recovery utility. i went into the disk utilities and chose Erase.

after that i went to the file menu ad restarted my machine. this is a different step than my first time restoring.

the first time i went to the recovery menu after erasing my disk and reinstalled. this reinstalled Yosemite.

the difference on the 2nd time around was, after erasing the hard drive i restarted the machine. it took me to Internet Recovery and then to a similar Recovery utility as before.. this is where the program set up the original OS that came with the computer.. so mine was Mountain Lion.

after it set up and the system was running i went into the app store and downloaded Mavericks from my previous purchases.

hope that keeps it simple, I'm no computer dude either, but most of my questions and problems I was able to look up with Google and read a lot, and from multiple sources. Good Luck, the only constant during [my only] problematic times with this computer were when Yosemite was present, that was the line in the sand for me. Just make sure you know you have everything you want in terms of personal data. so far tho, no problems with Mavericks and great for the daily grind - having a secure system takes away daily anxiety about what process would kill what next. now I can get back to work. smoke weed.

Same problem. Endless fiddling with bluetooth bitpool preferences hasn't fixed anything. Resetting PRAM and SMC and combinations of all those efforts didn't fix it either.. In addition to the audio delay to my bluetooth speakers (Vizio sound bar), eventually there will be some terribly irritating popping and interrupting in the audio. The popping problem showed up sparsely before I upgraded to Lion, but now it happens much more often. Before upgrading, I chalked it up to limitations of bluetooth, now, I'm pretty sure it's an OS problem. This is a subpar level of performance this OS is displaying and I hope it gets patched soon.

Yesterday I tried spotify (with WiFi on) for a hour and a half, and the problem of buzzing noise seems disappeared. I don't know what (hopefully) fixed it, maybe last try had success: try to unpair (delete from bluetooth settings) your device, then reset SMC (you find how to on the internet), then on reboot repair your device. For now it worked, I don't know for how long, I will do more tests in next days hoping that is the end of the nightmare.

I 'was' having the same problem with my Hudl 2 and kitsound Bluetooth headset but I managed to locate the problem, and what this problem is, is an app is interfering with Bluetooth connections and making it lag, in my case an app called 'Battery' so I reccomend just deleting apps you recently downloaded and you should get a fine Bluetooth connection in no time, Hope I helped

its not an issue of any software you might be using!!!

for some reason wifi is breaking the bluetooth connectivity. same thing goes for the mouse or any other bluetooth device. turn off the bluetooth and the lag will go away. this has been one of the worst most annoying things.. bought new speakers and can't even enjoy them properly. Need Fix Apple!!!!!!!!!!!
