Q: Bluetooth audio lag

Just updated (17th.Oct.2014) to OS X Yosemite. Im having trouble with bluetooth connection. There is an audio lag on my bluetooth headphone which progressively gets worse. Im using Sony DR-BTN 200. Is there a temporary solution until they fix it?

P.S. I found others with similar issues as well. Ive tried re-pairing the connection to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

I have same issue on macbook 15 mid 2014

Some time my bluetooth speak automatic disconnect or "lop hoop sound" white playing, it like you have bad music source, but it is not.

No solution - but I noticed that I dont have the issue when playing from some sources.. i.e. itunes and youtube streaming via bt works fine, but from digitallyimported.com it does not. Not sure what the difference is.

Same here, my macbook pro is mid 2009 model and after updating from Mavericks to Yosemite the problem appeared with Cambridge silicon radio bluetooth audio adapter. When playing music from iTunes, sound cuts off occasionally when doing something with safari, browse files or anything that creates hard drive activity. Could it be a hard drive problem? Does anyone have it with ssd drives? I like Yosemite and it will be perfect if this problem could be fixed.

    Hi,

I have the same problem, MacPro mid 2010 + logitech bluetooth audio receiver connected to big speakers, there is a lag effectively, i noted it constantly in Youtube (i thought it was a flash problem).

I found a temporary solution, click on bluetooth configuration disconnect the speakers and connect them again, this will solve the lag for an small while, well... despite is not a real solution it can solve e.g. the annoyance of watching a full movie .

    Regards,

Hey I have a MBP 2010 and iMac 2007 both have SSD drives and have the lag problem. They worked perfectly before the update.

In my experience with UE Boom and Yosemite it looks like:

    • it looses sync every couple of minutes
    • often the playback is choppy
    • sometimes when I switch the music app to the background and turn safari to the foreground (most often) the playback becomes unbearable choppy

I've tried setting Bitpool to a higher value: defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Bitpool Min (editable)" 40 but it looks like the way it works has been changed as defaults read com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent gives me only the value I just wrote compare.

I've also tried setting process bluetoothaudiod niceness a lower value, but it too didn't help.

As I said before in my previous post, I'm also having the same issue occurring on my mid 2011 iMac and mid 2011 MacBook Air.  I've had no problems on Mavericks, which lead me to believe it was Yosemite causing this intolerable annoyance.  But just to be sure it was Yosemite, I reinstalled Windows 8.1, via bootcamp, on my iMac and with the same headphones I have no issues.  The delayed, chopping sound only occurs when I use Yosemite.  I really hope Apple fixes this with an update or something soon and doesn't try to blame it old hardware.  Somewhere I read that Apple did this on purpose to make you think you need a new computer.

Glad I am not the only one who has this problem.

I am using a 2012 15' Retina Macbook Pro. This problem came out today as I updated to the OSX Yosemite.

Hope Apple can fix this soon. Following the thread now.

Similar issue here with MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) and audio playing out through bluetooth on my Bose Mini. Had NO problems prior to upgrading to Yosemite. Playing music they way I have been for years is no longer a pleasure. Apple, please fix!

I tried resetting the SMC last night for the first time (and also reset the PRAM and repaired Disk and Permissions again).

Worked flawlessly for rest of night, broken again this morning. So, obviously it can be made to work ...................

    so far I have

    - disabled Dashboard.

    - reset my WiFi service under Network Preferences, replacing it with a new one titled WiFi2

    - deleted numerous plists/startup daemons I no longer use anymore on startup, for example past deleted programs

    - removed preference panels I no longer used or outdated.

    - disabled cache in Safari's develop menu, as it was double the amount I seen in Mavericks

    - unchecked safari's option in iCloud Drive

    - reset the smc and pram numerous times

    - restored and reinstalled yosemite using time machine after it crashed on startup during the process of restoration.

still have multiple problems across multiple areas in the computer including bluetooth, notifications of any kind, audio and video delay.
