Q: Bluetooth audio lag

Just updated (17th.Oct.2014) to OS X Yosemite. Im having trouble with bluetooth connection. There is an audio lag on my bluetooth headphone which progressively gets worse. Im using Sony DR-BTN 200. Is there a temporary solution until they fix it?

P.S. I found others with similar issues as well. Ive tried re-pairing the connection to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

    Unfortunately, disabling dashboard seems not to work for me. FYI, I had already had the dashboard disabled since upgrading. But I tried re-enabling it, and then disabling again... just in case... but no. Still have the audio lag. And sad to report last night the lag turned into a crazy jitter that made listening to music absolutely impossible. Small noises worked OK, but nothing continuous was bearable. Today it is back to the normal several second lag... annoying, but OK for listening to music at work.

    I LOVE APPL SO MUCH. . .

    Guys, I had the exact same problem. I wasn't able to use my Logitech Boombox Bluetooth Speaker and Logitech Bluetooth music adapter. I tried to reset ''System Management Controller'' and  the problem is solved. There are no more lag no delay or no stopping music.

    If you have a portable as Macbook Pro, Air;

    Turn it off, connect the charge adapter, on the built in keyboard press Left shift+Control+Option and the power button together for 3 seconds. Then release all the keys. Then turn on the computer.

    If you have Mac Pro, Mac Mini etc.. ;

    Shut it down, unplug the power cord. Wait 15-20 seconds. Attach the power cord. Wait 5 seconds. Turn on the computer.

    Unfortunately, resetting the SMC seems not to work for me. I have the exact same symptoms now as before doing the reset, shown in this video: https://vimeo.com/111735462

    I have this same issue. I have reported the issue to Apple via the Developer Bug Reporter and they got back to me asking for a diagnostic report, which I have now provided. Funnily enough, since running that report the problem has got 10 times worse!

    I am having the same issue and it is so frustrating to not be able to watch videos without a major lag.

    I also faced the same issue on Macbook white 2010 model after upgrading to Yosemite with my Bose Soundlink 3 and downgraded back to Mavericks and all is good now. Not upgrading until this is fixed. There are several separate threads for the same bluetooth connectivity issue going on in this forum.

    I went back to Mavericks also. After iOS 8 and Yosemite I'm not upgrading again until Spring.

    I bet Tim Cook's Mac still works.

    hey guys, i have not had any bluetooth lag since i deactivated the dashboard. This really worked for me.

    I also figured out how to reconnect the headphones after sleep: Safari must be quit and restarted, then it works again.

    Same problem here, have a 2013 macbook pro retina with a blue tooth connection to NAD D3020 ampifier and have lag with any type of audio. Spotify, online radio, streaming TV and local movies (which get progressively worse while watching. Thought it was me but not. Apple please do something about this, not very happy with my first mac!

    I´m glad this worked for you.

    But even if it had worked for me and everyone else I don´t think we should settle for such a solution since there´s no reason for Apple to allow the webbrowser to interfere with connecting a device, or the dashboard to interfere with transferring bluetooth-data. It would be like allowing my kitchen sink to interfere with the headlights on my car..

    My computer (MacPro mid2009) works alright, but feels at least 3 years older after upgrading to Yosemite. I get half- and full error-situations I never got before, typical for a computer that is overloaded with something, be it buggy software or a very demanding task a user has started. Upgrading the OS should make the computer both "younger", more responsive and (even) more stable. I fear Apple is losing the discipline that Steve Jobs was known for and that is necessary to fuel quality in the computer world. If these things are not taken seriously I fear that more things will start breaking in mysterious ways.

    kind regards

    Hm, i only upgraded to Yosemite, hoping it would fix my Mavericks issues (ac-WiFi)

    It didn't.

    Guess you have to accept a certain amount of bugs with desktop/notebook computers.

    Im having bluetooth issues after upgrading to Yosemite as well. Im on late 2013 intel iMac and smc reset + pram did absolutely nothing. Also disabled dashboard, but it had no effect on the problem. With Mavericks I could connect my mac to my Sony stereo that has bluetooth and listen to my music that way, but now everytime I try to do that, I can hear music for 1-2 seconds and it immediately cuts off. This is a really, really huge issue, because I also listen to my productions from Logic X this way to see how the mix sounds on basic stereos and right now its impossible.

    I have fixed the problem. Though I can't believe something like this would fix it, Im now listening to music through my stereos without any disconnection issues, so hopefully this will work for somene out there as well.

    Since Im on a desktop mac, Im directly connected to my modem (though I have wi-fi). So what I did was turn on my Wi-fi and disconnect my modem cable from my iMac and then turn on bluetooth. Problem fixed! How something like this could have caused so many problems is beyond me, but hey, it worked. I have also now tested the bluetooth connection with a direct modem connection and it keeps working, so try it out and see if it fixes the problem for you!

    I'm experiencing the same problem since Yosemite update. I'm using a direct wired ethernet connection to the the Time Capsule. So it's not an ethernet over wifi issue.

    Im not using Time Capsule, so can't help, but if you tried removing the ethernet cable and simply used Wi-fi and it didn't work, then sadly I can't help. Im still amazed by the fact that I could get the bluetooth problem fixed by simply not using ethernet and only wifi (though after I got it to work with wifi, it now also works with a direct ethernet connection)
