Dec 25, 2014 3:50 PM in response to mariaaaaa_by John72980,
I have two bluetooth speakers, both HMDX, but different models. The smaller one delays about 1/2 second, unusable. The larger one delays only about 1/16 of a second and is usable. I suggest that it is the Blutooth devices that are causing the delay and its nothing to do with Windows. -

Dec 27, 2014 4:31 AM in response to ugofrompadovaby redticket,Hey, thanks very much for this fix! It worked for me! Now audio lag and choppiness is gone!
For those who couldn't make this work, remove the "space" in between "moun tainlion" and restart your App Store app to see the download link in the software update tab.

Dec 28, 2014 5:01 PM in response to mommuby beachdude42,So is Apple going to do ANYTHING about this?? It's been months that people have been reporting this and still no word... I've tried every fix in the book and I can only get the sound to stop stuttering for - if I'm lucky - an hour at a time. This is infuriating... I just got a new speaker and was hoping to use it with my MacBook, but now it doesn't look like that'll be possible.

Dec 29, 2014 1:51 PM in response to mommuby lumfounded,I noticed this issue back in October and assumed that it would be worked out with one of the dot releases. After a few frustrating months, I finally called Apple and told them that my Creative BT headphones are basically unusable for video (which is the only thing I use them for). I spoke to a second-tier tech, who had me submit diagnostic logs that he sent to Apple engineers. They determined the problem is with my headphones, which are "not compatible with Yosemite". It takes a lot of nerve to release an OS update that breaks many mainstream—and expensive—peripherals (Bang and Olufsen, Harman Kardon, Sony, Logitech, Creative), and to then turn around and blame the other companies who've done nothing wrong at all.
The Apple tech actually suggested to me that his Beats headphones work fine with Yosemite. Perhaps the reason Apple isn't rushing to fix this problem is that they want you to "upgrade" your headphones.

Dec 29, 2014 3:35 PM in response to lumfoundedby joshemory,I joined the beta program, updated to 10.10.2 and it fixed my bluetooth speaker lag. Before it lagged a good second or so making movie watching unbearable. But now it seems to work.

Dec 30, 2014 12:00 PM in response to joshemoryby beachdude42,I just joined the beta program and upgrading to 10.10.2 didn't fix my audio skipping/lagging at all... how do I get out of the beta program?? I know I can't downgrade now but I just want to go back to getting the stable releases from here on out.

Dec 30, 2014 1:49 PM in response to beachdude42by joshemory,Worked for me, sorry it didn't work for you. I looked at the Beta FAQs and found the page with instructions to leave Beta if you don't wanna install anymore Beta updates.

iTunes as my music player has been made redundant.
music skips and lags on bluetooth speakers.
quite disgusted that Apple has neither officially recognised this nor rectified it.
i have tried resetting PRAM. i have tried reformatting. neither have worked. i refuse to use a Beta update.
if Apple can't be bothered...then neither can i....
