Notification Centre not working Yosemite Mac Mini 2009

This is an open case with Apple Support (Ref: 680709862), however, I wanted to see if anyone else has this issue and whether you have found a solution.

In Yosemite, on a 2009 Mac Mini, the Notification Centre button at the top right corner of my mac does nothing, like it's a dead link. The trackpad two-finger swipe from the right also fails to open Notification Centre.

Through Apple Support, I have rebooted in safe mode, only to find the same result, indicating it's not related to a third-party app. I have also checked permissions and tried the CMD-OPTION-P-R thing to reset the pRAM (or whatever it's called).

Nothing has worked.

Any solution?

My computer does not have this problem, but I've seen similar issues before. Sometimes the problem is related to a preference file conflict, but more often than not it's just a bad installation that needs to be run again.

First of all, are you able to open the NC preference pane in System Preferences? I ask just to make sure that this isn't a strange installation issue. If it's not there, you might consider reinstalling Yosemite.

If it's there you might try is deleting NC preferences. To do this, go to ~/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist and then restart your computer. This folder may not be visible on your computer. To access the folder, select Go from the Finder menu and then choose Go to Folder from the drop down options or use the key chord shift + command + G (press all three at the same time). Then paste or type ~/Library/Preferences in the dialog box.

If after restart this doesn't work, follow these directions to reset ACL (Access Control List) permissions. http://pondini.org/OSX/Password.html . If after restarting the issue persists, I would recommend downloading a fresh copy of Yosemite from the App Store and reinstalling the OS. It may simply be that there is something wrong with your installation.
