You will have to manually copy your date to the new Mac.

Migration Assistant in Mavericks is compatible with OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.8 or later. If you are migrating from an earlier version of OS X, update your older computer first, or manually copy your data from one computer to another.

Since you have a G4 you can't us the update OSX to Snow Leopard option

Thanks for your advice ---can you assist me further ? What if I simply shared to my macbook (at 10.7.5) everything on the Mac-mini, then backed up the mini to an exterior HD. ?Sold it off or donated it to someone, bought an Ipad Air 2. and stated fresh !

Or can I send everything on the mini to the Cloud ? It's about 17 GB.

What do you mean by

--- " backed up the mini to an exterior HD"?

--- " I simply shared to my macbook (at 10.7.5) everything on the Mac-mini, "?

In your statement "Or can I send everything on the mini to the Cloud ? It's about 17 GB." what "Cloud"?

If I recall 10.7 does not support iCloud.

I would just copy the data to either an external HD or the MacBook

Ansering your questions in order:

I would simply make a clone of the mac-mini and install it on an exterior HD.

I currently have a macbook running 10.7.5 ---I have "shared most of the contents on the mac-mini with that system --in fact it still sync's Mail.

I am using the Icloud now on the macbook. ---The mini only has 17GB on it ---could I send the ifo to the ICloud ?

CouldI use the mac-mini as a substitute for apple TV ?
