Go to the view menu and select "show sidebar" or if you are using windows ctrl-s keyboard equivalent will take care of this

Go through each of the sources Music, Movies etc. and select Playlists. Use the ellipsis ... to enable the sources you want to see. Apps, Tones, and Internet Radio don't have a Playlists button, the others do and remember your selection. Not quite the same as it used to be, but not too different. Other view controls are available from the drop down at the right-hand side.
