Q: Clean Install via USB Flash Drive "Can't Be Verified"

I recently purchased a solid state hard drive for my 2009 15" MacBook Pro with the intentions of doing a clean install of Yosemite upon its release.  I used the "createinstallmedia" terminal command to create a bootable USB installer (and have done this twice so far).  Every time I attempt to run the installer, the progress bar will complete up to "about a second left" then wait ten minutes before I get an error stating, "This copy of OS X Yosemite application can't be verified, it may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."  The error log (Cmd-L) has given the same errors at the very beginning of the installation process every time.

After doing some research, I found that this was an issue for OS X Mavericks as well and could be fixed by verifying or setting the time.

OS X Mavericks: Check Date & Time preferences for "This copy of the Install OS X Mavericks application can't be verified…

But I am posting here since the above method did not work.  Is it possible my USB flash drive is giving me the flack?

If anyone else has had this issue I would love to hear from you! Thanks!

This is a cold thread, but I recently had the same problem with OS X Mavericks (10.9) and Yosemite (10.10) flash drive installs on two different Macs.  Per their included documentation (and the "Check Date & Time..." link above), I then reset the date/time to the current date/time and retried several times; still no go.

Then I ran across a related suggestion:  to reset the date/time to an OLDER date/time.  I used March 18 2013 at 12:50 ("date 0318125013") and VOILA, no error, install ran successfully.

    Hope this helps.

This just helped me!  Thank you for caring enough to post your finding!  I set my date to March 23, 2014 and voila, no more "This copy of Install OS X Mavericks can't be verified" message!  for reference I was upgrading from 10.7.4 -> 10.9 on a non-Internet connected Mac Pro. I used System Preferences to set the time.
