why is iCloud drive not showing all my folders?

Greetings and Salutations,

Upgraded everything to ios8 on the iPad, and to Yosemite on the iMac and Macbook Pro. I bought 200gb of iCloud Drive storage and then moved what was on an external drive to the iCloud drive on my iMac. No problem. Then I go to the Macbook Pro, open the iCloud Drive and what do you know? Only about half of the folders and documents are showing up! Same thing on the is iPhone 6 and the iPad 2 with iOS 8.

Anyone else having this issue with iCloud Drive not syncing correctly? Appreciate the help!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), iOS 8.0.2

Looks like this thread's still open. I've the same problem here: scanned a bunch of images via Scanner Pro on my iPhone, the files popped up nearly immediately on my iPad and iCloud.com but not in the iCloud Drive folder on my iMac. Currently the iCloud Drive folder on my iMac shows 2 folders only: Pages and Numbers, both syncing properly.

Logging out and logging back in from iCloud on the Mac worked. Right after logging back in it imported back all the stuff it deleted when I logged out (reminders, calendars, notes...) and right after that it created the Numbers, Pages and Scanner Pro folders in the iCloud Drive folder. Needless to say iCloud Drive is still not working properly on OS X while it looks like it's working fine from launch on iOS.

Hi, usually it alerts you that logging out will delete something like the sync'd folders but I don't know if your warning is referring to something specific the Mac's trying to sync or it's just a general warning. Anyway you know what it's tied to iCloud: all the folders in the iCloud folder, the iCloud e-mail account (if you use it), AddressBook, Safari data, PhotoStream, Notes, Calendar and Reminders. If you use TimeMachine to backup you've all your stuff there anyway.

Nope - didn't work for me. As of 8/20, this problem of not all iCloud Drive folders showing in the Finder on OS X (10.10.4) still exists for me. I tried logging in and out of iCloud and rebooting on all of my iOS and OS X devices, but the problem persists; I tried creating new documents or folders within the applications whose folders don't show on iCloud Drive in the Finder, no luck.

I notice that the folders that are NOT showing in the Finder pertain to iOS apps for which I don't have an OS X equivalent installed. See the attached screenshots: For example, I have Pixelmator, Mindnode, Solver, Textastic, and Byword on both iOS and OS X; but I have 1Writer, Documents, FileBrowser, and iDraw only on iOS and all of them are missing from iCloud Drive in the Finder. I did file a bug at bug.apple.com.

Update: Since I posted the previous note about certain iCloud Drive folders not showing up in the Finder, three days have passed and as of this morning (8/23/15) all of my iCloud Drive folders now show in the Finder — three days later!!! (By comparison, if I sign out of Dropbox, remove all of Dropbox folders from my drive, then sign back into Dropbox, Dropbox syncs *all* folders within a virtual flash. I don't know why it took iCloud that long to make all my iCloud Drive folders visible and accessible in the Finder.)

Had this issue today, found a quick fix - a simple case of restarting your Mac's Finder:

  1. Head over to the Activity Monitor app on your Mac, and search for "finder"
  2. Select the Finder listing from the below table
  3. Hit the 'X' button in the top-left corner. This will force quit, and immediately restart Finder.

You'll find files on your desktop will disappear for a second, but they'll pop back the moment Finder has restarted. Now you should see the previously hidden folders back in the iCloud drive folder - where they belong.

Hope this helps!

I Put all of my photos that were very important to me on iCloud Drive because I no longer trust the Photos App or any App in iCloud.com to back up my Apps & download the content so I can see what is there. Photos works better than the other Apps but the photos are arranged completely different than in any of my devices. The number of photos does not match, either.

Whatt I learned with iCloud Drive is you can add folders to keep your files or images in. It was said at first that you could not add folders. I've added folders under parent folders & moved the content zi wanted into the folders. I left my device on &.copying to iCloud Drive one night. Everything was there that I moved over.

MY only concern is the same as with backup in iCloud.com. Bill my files, documents & images be in iCloud Drive in the event of a crash???

I noticed the same thing mkpub. I had installed FileBrowser on my iPhone and that folder didn't show on my Mac. But I think it may be getting better, at least it wasn't a 3 days wait like it was for you. I was looking for the folder on my Mac in late afternoon. When I came in to the office the next morning it was there on the Mac version of iCloud drive.

Where was that said?

Everything on the iCloud Drive is backed up by Time Machine, you do use Time Machine, yes?

@ john slavin1: Yes it's getting better; yesterday I did a clean install with El Cap, and all my iCloud folders reappeared much faster than previously (not as fast as Dropbox, though 😉. I'm starting to suspect that Apple is continuously doing some upgrades to iCloud; I just wish they could keep users in the loop somehow (through monitors to this forum or simple announcements) rather than leaving users wondering, second guessing, or frustrated or a combination of these sentiments.

why is iCloud drive not showing all my folders?
