I have updated my iTunes to 12.0.1 on my retina macbook pro, but the notification won't go away. I've tried to reset my computer and sign out of the store, but the icon badge will not go away.

That solved a different problem that I had. haha. I should have said that in the mac app store it prompts me to update my iTunes even though it says that it had already updated in the recent updates section below it. How can i get that to go away?

Same problem here. Updated iTunes to version 12.0.1. Now the update is shown again and won't go away. Tried everything... restarting... debug menu (clear cookies, reset application)... trying to hide the update... nothing helps. That **** update as well as the notification badge on the app store icon just won't go away.

Same issue. Re-indexing did not work, also tried deleting /Library/Application Support/AppStore/adoption.plist (didn't help) and even reinstalling 10.10... no success yet.

I have the same problem as well. (13" MacBook Pro mid-2010).
Download the iTunes app from the apple web page, installed it and now it works fine
I have the exact problem. Couldn't find a resolution so far.
This worked out! It seemed redundant, but I went to the mac updates after I installed iTunes, the app store refreshed its updates and it went away. Thanks!
