I upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks yesterday and have the same problem. Talked with service rep and they walked me through several steps to try and find the problem. No solutions found. They said the next step would be to try and download Yosemite again, which I did, and reinstalled , but have the same problems. Hope they come up with a fix for this. Everything else seems to be working properly.

The same for me. I called apple support yesterday mid day. All they had me do was reinstall OS. Obviously didn't work. Called back in case number last night. Worked with advanced support 3 hours and 15 minutes. We deleted every item from launch..deleted my virus shield... Even Java. No luck. They were completely perplexed. I am due a return call this afternoon. Here is hoping for a fix!

dothan08...please keep this thread posted with your latest news. I'm ineligible for Apple support because I'm way past my 1-year warranty. So you're our source of news and tips from Apple support.

I recently installed Sophos anti-virus to verify my hard drive was clean after I landed on a page that wanted to take over Safari (I Force Quit Safari because the page wouldn't let me navigate away). I may delete that app and see if things improve. I note that most people on this thread also have a Late 2012 Mac mini.

Also, I've changed the Energy Save system pref in several ways but I still get the freeze on waking from sleep. However, I unplugged my external USB Western Digital drive and so far so good: I'm able to log in after the mini has been asleep.

So thanks for your reporting on Apple support's response. Please keep us up-to-date.

I have the exact same issue for the first time after installing Yosemite. On resume from sleep, I can see the desktop, and can move the cursor with the mouse, but clicking on icons, etc. does nothing, and the keyboard does nothing. A cold boot works fine. This is a Mac Mini bought in the Summer of 2014. I run no unusual software. I have eliminated all log in items in Preferences/Accounts, reset the NPRAM, have no peripherals (other than standard Apple mini mouse and wireless keyboard), and have shutdown and unplugged to reset. It makes no difference whether a password is required or not - once it goes to sleep, this is the result, and only a forced shut-down by holding the power button and a cold boot give me control back. This problem does not appear if it merely goes into screensaver mode - which I invoke with a hot corner.
