Turning off Burst Mode in iPhone 6 Camera

Assuming I am not missing something (would not be the first time), I assume that there is no way to disable the Burst Mode in the iPhone 6 camera?

My reason is that we were out to dinner and I asked the waiter to take a picture of the four of us. I turned the flash on the camera to ON (as the restaurant was dim but was not sure if the flash would go off if on AUTO) and handed him the camera. What I guess happened is instead of tapping the shutter button, he held it - probably waiting for the flash to go off - and ended up taking three separate Bursts of approximately 45 photos. None of which were even reasonably sharp because there was not a lot of light and the flash did not go off. (BYW my friends wife also had an iPhone 6 and got the same basic results.)

Now (and yes, I did leave Feedback) there should be a way to either disable Burst Mode or at least it should automatically be disabled when you turn the flash to ON (as the flash does not work in Burst mode anyway). I went through everything I could find in Settings, but saw nothing related to the Camera itself. (I guess if I would have used another camera app, this "problem" would not have occurred, but it never dawned on me.)

Hi My Mom Also has this issue. My Mom Took 99 burst photos and keeps getting warnings from iCloud that she will exceed her iCloud limit. I know that Mom is not doing this intentionally. When you take a pix of your granddaughter you are in the moment and keep your finger on the "shutter".

I Have the same issue. There should be a way to turn off the **** burst mode. Taking 999 pics and the Filtering for the right one is A long sucky process.

I agree. Apple should include a setting to turn burst mode off/on. Current setup is too sensitive to the touch and often results in unwanted pix. [I've been shooting semi-pro for decades.]

My sister has special needs and bought an iPad Air to take pictures with because of the big clear screen. She's not able to use a viewfinder and the viewing screen on compact cameras are too small. However, she is finding the iPad camera app extremely challenging and frustrating because of the burst mode feature as she finds it difficult to judge just how long to touch the screen for to get a shot and usually gets over 20 pics. I then have to go through dozens of bursts to select a single photo from each burst for her. If burst mode could be disabled she would be able to use it easily and, importantly for her, independently.

If anyone knows an alternative camera app for people with special needs please let me know.

There are lots of alternative camera apps - my personal favorite (aside from things like Hipstamatic which is more for special effect/filtered shots) is ProCamera. It probably has a lot of features that you sister might not need, but most of the third party apps do allow disabling (or in the case of ProCamera not even turning on) burst mode.

Unfortunately - aside from just learning to tap the iPad button - there is as of now still no way to disable the burst mode. (Very frustrating for my wife also - and her only special need is that she is "technically challenged". No offense towards you or your sister.)

You can turn off Burst in Camera settings, by I do not see the off switch in my Settings. I have IOS 8, iphone 6

its not there to turn off Bursts.

Any help?

In Camera, There is a timer option at the top, it looks like a tiny clock. That allows you to wait 3 or 10 seconds to shoot a photo. That has to be turned off, and you can snap one pic at a time. At least on my phone.

Hi

I've only just bought my first smartphone, an iPhone 6s, and the burst mode was the ONE thing annoying me too.

instead of using the on screen button to shoot - use either one of the volume switches as a shutter release!

Works perfectly, one shot per press.

I cant believe that there is not a way to disable burst photos. My 80 year old mother is about to go over her iCloud limit because of the massive number of burst photos she has taken.
